Hav Bohra made the supreme sacrifice #OnThisDay 25 September in 2008 at 14000 feet in Lawanz, Kupwara, J&K, eliminating three terrorists.

Hav Bohra was the squad commander of an assault team tasked with search operations in snowbound, inhospitable mountainous terrain in General Area Lawanz at 14000 feet.

On 25 September 2008, at 1815 hours he observed a group of terrorists and stealthily approached to intercept the terrorists. Greatly outnumbered and sensing grave danger to his comrades, the #IndianBrave drew extremely heavy automatic fire onto himself.

He charged and killed one terrorist. In the intense fire, he suffered gun shot wounds to the left shoulder but unmindful of his physical condition, encouraging and directing his comrades, he pressed on with the assault and killed the second terrorist at extreme close range.

Refusing evacuation, instructing his comrades to cover his move, he lobbed a grenade and in the last act of supreme valour charged. He killed one more terrorist in hand-to-hand combat before succumbing to his injuries. Inspired by his supreme sacrifice, his comrades killed two more terrorists.

For his inspiring leadership, conspicuous bravery, selflessness, and supreme sacrifice for the nation beyond the call of duty, Hav Bahadur Singh Bohra was awarded the Ashoka Chakra (Posthumous).

The #IndianBrave neutralised one terrorist and injured two before laying down his life at Tangdhar, J&K

On 22 September 2018, L/Nk Singh was the leading scout of the Special Forces squad which was carrying out search operation to locate and neutralize an infiltrated group of hardcore foreign terrorists at an altitude of 12,500 feet in Jammu & Kashmir.

The rocky nature of the terrain and lack of vegetation made the conduct of operation extremely difficult.

During the operation, L/Nk Singh tracked the accurate location of the terrorists and alerted his squad. As the squad was getting deployed, they came under heavy effective fire from the terrorists.

Realising the imminent danger to his squad members, L/Nk Singh displaying field craft of an exceptional order closed in on the terrorists and neutralized one terrorist at very close range with accurate rifle fire.

One of the remaining terrorists lobbed a grenade at L/Nk Singh injuring him severely. Thereafter, the terrorists started engaging the rest of the squad with effective fire.

L/Nk Singh in a daring act crawled close towards the other two terrorists and engaged them, during which he was once again hit by terrorists' fire which led to his rifle falling into a nearby gorge.

In a selfless and brave act L/Nk Singh grabbed one of the terrorists and engaged him in hand to hand combat. Taking advantage of the pause in the
terrorists' fire, the rest of the squad quickly moved on to a position of advantage and engaged the terrorists effectively. L/Nk Singh while in hand to
hand combat was shot by the third terrorist mortally wounding him.

L/Nk Singh displayed raw courage and gallantry in personally eliminating one terrorist, seriously injuring two terrorists and sacrificing his life thereby ensuring safety of his squad and subsequent elimination of three terrorists.

पांचवें सेमेस्टर के छात्र सर्वेश शर्मा के प्रोजेक्ट के लिए रक्षा मंत्रालय की डिफेंस इनोवेशन ऑर्गेनाइजेशन (डीआईओ) एवं इनोवेशन फॉर डिफेंस इक्सीलेंस (आईडैक्स) की ओर से 3.50 करोड़ रुपये की ग्रांट मंजूर की गई है.

रक्षा मंत्रालय के डिफेंस प्रोडक्शन विभाग के अतिरिक्त सचिव एवं सीईओ दिनेश माहौर ने सोमवार को ही इस बजट को स्वीकृति प्रदान की.

सर्वेश अब भारतीय सेना के लिए रुद्रा ऐज टी-1 (स्पेक्ट्रा) ड्रोन तैयार करेगा जोकि सीमा पर निगरानी में बहुत बड़ा मददगार साबित होगा. क्योंकि, यह दुश्मन के राडार की पकड़ में नहीं आएगा और जैमर भी इसे जाम नहीं कर पाएगा।

रक्षा मंत्रालय ने इस प्रोजेक्ट से संबंधित औपचारिकताएं पूर्ण करने के लिए 20 दिन का समय दिया है और इसका इनक्यूबेशन सेंटर आईआईटी रुड़की में बनाया गया है. यानी सर्वेश अब आईआईटी रुड़की की लैब में इस प्रोजेक्ट पर काम करेगा, जिसे 20 महीने में पूरा करने का लक्ष्य निर्धारित किया गया है.सर्वेश की उपलब्धि पर पॉलीटैक्निक कालेज के प्रधानाचार्य चंद्रशेखर, संस्थान के कंप्यूटर इंजीनियिरिंग के विभागाध्यक्ष समीर भारती और अन्य शिक्षकों ने सर्वेश को बधाई देते हुए उसके सुनहरे भविष्य के लिए शुभकामनाएं दी हैं.
