The event was gracefully attended by the entire leaders of the Alimosho NDC Leaders, the Hon. Pius Omodaratan, the Chairman of Alimosho NDC, the entire Local Government Executive Council and major stakeholders in Alimosho.
In the course of the event, each representative of the stakeholders present took time one after the other to endorse the candidacy of Hon. Ifeoluwa Salako, pledged their support in totality to the forthcoming campaign and work assiduously to make sure that not only did Hon. Ifeoluwa Salako wins the Federal House of Representatives election but to see to the victory of our Presidential Candidate, H. E. Peter Obi and other candidates in Alimosho.
Though it has been quite challenging getting to this point but we are relentless and focused on delivering good governance to the great people of Alimosho. For too long Alimosho has been deprived of committed leadership at all levels. An efficient legislative representation is alien to the Alimosho constituency and this is the time to change all of that.
We will like to appreciate the leadership of our dear party, the NDC, for their immeasurable achievements in a very short time in stabilizing the party and upholding democratic values.
Present at the unveiling event are -

NDC Oyo State Must Not Abandon the Grassroots: Why Boycotting the Local Government Election Is a Strategic Mistake
The decision of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Oyo State Chapter, to distance itself from the forthcoming Local Government Elections scheduled for 29 December 2026 is deeply concerning.
According to the statement signed by the State Secretary, Comrade Okunade Aderoju Solomon, the party justified its decision by citing alleged irregularities that characterized previous elections conducted by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC). While concerns about electoral credibility are legitimate and should never be ignored, completely withdrawing from the electoral process raises serious strategic and political questions.
Politics is not won only during presidential or governorship elections. Strong political parties are built from the grassroots upward.
Local government elections are not merely contests for chairmanship and councillorship seats. They are opportunities to test a party's popularity, strengthen its structures, recruit members, train campaign teams, and establish lasting relationships with communities.
For a relatively young political movement like the NDC, this election should have been viewed as an investment in the future rather than a contest to avoid.
Participating in the election would have:
• Demonstrated that NDC is a serious democratic alternative.
• Built active ward and polling unit structures across Oyo State.
• Recruited new members and volunteers.
• Trained party agents and campaign coordinators ahead of the 2027 general elections.
• Introduced the party's manifesto and values to more communities.
• Identified credible young leaders who can become the future face of the party.
• Generated electoral data that would be invaluable in preparing for the 2027 elections.
Even where victory is uncertain, participation itself strengthens a political party. Elections are opportunities to organize, learn, improve, and grow.
This is why the decision to boycott the election appears, at least from a strategic standpoint, to be counterproductive.
Equally troubling are reports circulating within the party that some individuals identified with the Obidient movement have allegedly been removed from the official NDC Oyo State WhatsApp platform, including persons reportedly interested in contesting under the party's platform. If these reports are accurate, they deserve urgent attention from the party's national leadership.
A political party preparing to challenge established parties in 2027 should be expanding its membership, encouraging participation, and accommodating differing opinions—not creating the impression of exclusion or internal division.
Internal democracy is one of the strongest indicators of a party's readiness to govern. Members should feel welcomed, heard, and given equal opportunities to contribute to the growth of the party.
Taken together, the reported exclusion of members and the decision to withdraw from the local government election risk sending the wrong message to supporters and the wider public. They may create the perception that the party is retreating from the very grassroots engagement needed to become a formidable political force.
If NDC truly seeks to reshape Nigerian politics, then every election, whether local, state, or national, should be regarded as an opportunity to organize, inspire, and expand its reach.
The December 2026 local government election should have been a testing ground for the party's strength across Oyo State, not a missed opportunity.

I have just received the sad news of the death of one of our Obidient family members from Edo State, Comrade Benedict Inaede.
On behalf of my family and the Obidient Movement family, I sincerely condole with his immediate family and the entire Obidient family. His death is a painful and irreplaceable loss to us all.
May Almighty God, who has called him home, grant him eternal rest and grant his family and all of us the fortitude to bear this profound loss.

Rest in peace Coach Kenny!
Nigeria’s sporting and political communities are mourning the loss of Hon. Kehinde Adewuyi Adetola, widely known as “Coach Kenny,” a former coach of the Flying Eagles (Nigeria’s U-20 national team) and a prominent grassroots politician from Saki, Oyo State. He passed away following a brief illness, leaving behind a life devoted to football development, youth empowerment, and public service. A chieftain of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and former ADC candidate for the Saki West State Constituency in the 2023 elections, he later joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he continued to serve as a party chieftain until his death.
Throughout his career, Coach Kenny made an indelible mark on Nigerian football by nurturing young talent and championing grassroots sports development, earning widespread admiration from players and administrators alike. Beyond the pitch, he served as Vice Chairman of Saki West Local Government Area, where he spearheaded initiatives focused on community development, youth inclusion, and social advancement. Known for his humility and accessibility, he was equally committed to uniting people across political divides and advocating tirelessly for the welfare of his community.
Since news of his passing broke, tributes have poured in from former players, political associates, and community leaders across OkeOgun and beyond, with many remembering him as “a father to the fatherless and a mentor to countless youths.” He has been described as a symbol of hope whose contributions to sports, governance, and youth development will leave an enduring mark on Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. Hon. Kehinde Adewuyi Adetola leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations across sports, politics, and community life.
