Many are calling top or at least warning of the risks. Views likely driven by the four-year cycle and simple technical observation. It’s all straightforward so here's a chart to illustrate it, but there are inconsistencies too, and most importantly price hasn't confirmed these signals with a break of trend, at least not yet.

Bitcoin has been sideways for most of the year, like 2021 but without the massive 50% drop halfway, and without the bubble in altcoins and NFTs. Sentiment was extremely bullish and euphoric at the 69k peak, but where is that now?

Bitcoin's rise off the 2022 lows has been slow and steady and largely non-volatile. Altcoins aside from a few unicorns are broadly flat and going nowhere, have been like that for years, and NFTs are still dead.

Macro data, also included in the chart, is flat and grinding sideways. ISM is refusing to move into expansion, and in the real world, if you're not building data centres, business is also tough and has been for a while. None of this feels very 'toppy' to me.

Looking forward into next year, the most likely path is still expansion; it's what the data and all my research points to, and I strongly believe the business cycle will turn up. In the short term, does the four-year cycle have to play out in some way regardless, as a kind of self-fulfilling prophesy where participants are selling in anticipation?

This is the stuff I'm currently thinking about and will continue to address further as time goes on, but for now I believe that the trend remains up, until proven otherwise.
