On this day in 1988, a bomb exploded in the cargo hold of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The explosion killed all 259 passengers, 35 of whom were students studying abroad through Syracuse University, and 11 residents of Lockerbie, Scotland.
