Russia has once again struck Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, just days after its previous deadly attacks. Deliberately targeting civilians does not demonstrate strength — it only deepens suffering and undermines respect for international law. 1/2
All men are created equal with certain unalienable rights, such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness – these words, pronounced in the city of Philadelphia on that day 250 years ago gave birth to the United States of America.
🇺🇦 Today, the flags of Ukraine and Europe fly at half-mast at the @CoE in memory of the victims of Russia's deadly air strikes on the night of 1-2 July.
We mourn with Ukraine and stand in solidarity with all those affected by this tragic attack.
🕯️Eternal memory to the victims.
Kyiv has endured another night of brutal Russian drone and missile attacks, including on residential buildings. While Ukraine acts in self-defence and strikes military targets, Russia again attacks civilians and terrorises. I stand in full solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
Thank you, @PACE_President, for your principled voice and unwavering solidarity with Ukraine.
russia continues its deliberate terror against civilians, while Ukraine defends its people and our shared European values.
Accountability for these crimes is essential, and together we will ensure justice prevails. 🇺🇦🇪🇺

Did you know the @CoE has a treaty that makes it easier for everyone to access official documents? 📄👀
At a #PACEsummer2026 hearing, MPs learned more about the working of the Tromsø Convention - in force since 2020 - which encourages transparency in public administration.
The convention is now in force in 17 @CoE countries, aimed at creating a general "right of access" to official paperwork and data.
Take a look to see if your country is among them...
