Our Forest Entomology Lab in University of Florida is setting up a sentinel garden near Blues Creek Ravine of Gainesville. We aim to conduct pre-invasion assessment on American bark&ambrosia beetles for Asia, by planting Chinese trees and monitoring local beetle attacks on them.
Jatamansi, a medician herb native to Himalayan areas, is endangered due to overharvesting and habitat loss. But sustainable harvesting is possible and is a win-win for local economy as well as ecosystem health. https://t.co/0uzw8Dv2Xu
The release of Asian giant tortoises from captive-breeding back to Bangladesh’s forests has enhanced local forest conservation. Re-establishment of tortoise populations promotes local ecosystem regeneration by resuming key seed dispersal in the landscape. https://t.co/odVRUaMDZx
