It may be just me but when Avi is involved I do worry that transparency will not follow.
This is because for all his talk of open mindedness he has a track record of not straying far from mainstream scientific orthodoxy when it comes to analysing the anomalous properties of UAP ie he says it’s can’t be so it can’t be happening.
The most egregious example was his treatment of the Ukrainian astronomers data alongside his work with Sean Kirkpatrick on how NHI craft would behave just based on capabilities of our space vehicles
In short Avi is only too happy to run with the hare and run with the hounds talking seemingly expansively about the possibility of Extraterrestrial life whilst denying it actually being observed if it makes him look bad with his scientific mates or potential funders in the government
A good example of this is his spurious attempts to deny the validity of Beatriz Villarreals work on objects in low Earth orbit , her work certainly puts pressure on the scientific establishment, legacy programme funders and indeed threatens possible future funding for Avi.
Avi also has a track record of pursuing funding for projects vigorously and it has been said that he is really using an interest in UAPs to get money to fund his real passion which is to search for evidence of ancient ET artefacts in the inner solar system.
So in short I am concerned if AVI leads a UAP/ NHI discovery project as he will be eager to please government funders who don’t want to see disclosure/ confirmation of an NHI origin for anomalous objects. I also don’t think he will want to risk the ridicule of his academic colleges by confirming an NHI origin for things
So I fear Avi will resort to the tried and trusted method to avoid uncomfortable revelations of setting an impossibly high proof barrier for confirming anything alongside using scientific assumptions that leave no space for advanced tech solutions.
So I’d rather see Dave Grusch run any advisory council working with Hal putoff and others who could then select a balanced panel of experts and a robust but pragmatic methodology

One of the most important documents in the third tranche of DoD UAP releases is this December 1948 Navy memorandum.

The Fifth Naval District circulated instructions originating from the Chief of Naval Operations, who stated that the Director of Intelligence, U.S. Air Force, had informed the Navy that a "cycle of reappearance" of Flying Discs was apparent and that "the beginning of a new interval is imminent."

🚨BREAKING🚨 : Brazil's former Defense Minister and current presidential candidate Aldo Rebelo (@aldorebelo) confirms the country has had contact with non-human intelligence dating back to at least the 70’s. He says that in 1977, in Colares, UFOs were injuring civilians in the Amazon with burns, puncture wounds and blood loss serious enough to trigger a classified military investigation. In 1986, six fighter jets were scrambled against 21 unidentified craft detected by radar – the objects were flying at Mach 20+ and making right angle turns, maneuvers well beyond the capabilities of the most advanced craft today. He also confirms that the 1996 Varginha UFO crash occurred, that non-human beings were encountered, and says he fully believes the neurosurgeon who came face to face with one of them in a hospital bed. He also confirms the American military would have had an immediate strategic interest in the case. Rebelo says there is more classified information about these cases and others, and that they should be released alongside The United States’. Rebelo’s confirmation of the events at Varginha is the equivalent of former Defense Ministers in the United States like Robert Gates or Jim Mattis saying Roswell happened; its world history that can’t be walked back. And it ends decades of condescension and gaslighting from top ranking officials on this topic.

Rebelo also points out that Brazil sits on some of the largest rare earth and strategic mineral reserves in the world, and that UFO sightings cluster heavily around those same regions. The same sovereignty argument he applies to the Amazon and to Brazil's relationships with the United States and China, he applies to what is in those classified UFO files. Brazil's contact belongs to Brazil. If the United States doesn’t get in front of high level statements and endorsements like these, they’ll find themselves behind the rest of the world on UFO disclosure. Because ultimately, they don’t have a monopoly on UFOs.

Aldo Rebelo has spent four decades at the center of Brazilian politics, rising to become Speaker of the lower house of Congress, Defense Minister, and briefly acting President of Brazil. He’s also a rare erudite intellectual in today’s political class having a library with over 6,000 books. His statements on non-human intelligence will be etched in the historical record forever.

While chatting with a friend yesterday, we discussed what might happen to astronomy funding after Disclosure. In my view, there is a tension between a scenario in which the first recognised evidence of extraterrestrial life comes through SETI or conventional astrobiology, and one in which Disclosure arrives through the White House, or through the small amount of academic UAP research currently being conducted.

Let us consider a scenario in which there are zero indications of UAPs in astronomical data, and astrobiologists proudly announce that planet Huntabunta-32b exhibits a rich array of biosignatures, perhaps even accompanied by a small radio-emitting moon. News of that kind would almost certainly lead to a major increase in funding for astronomy.

Now consider the alternative, and in my view, the far more realistic scenario: the White House publicly acknowledges contact with non-human intelligence (NHI) within the coming years, and confirms that UFOs are real. Given the longstanding stigma surrounding the subject within academia, and how far ahead military and intelligence communities appear to be on the UFO question compared to academic researchers, such an acknowledgment would likely trigger a significant reshuffling of research priorities and funding.

I suspect that a significant fraction of resources would shift away from traditional civilian astronomy and towards more public-facing military programmes dedicated to studying UAPs. At least during the first few years, civilian astronomers would likely struggle to adapt to the new reality and have relatively little to contribute to the discussion. The public would also inevitably ask how astronomers could have missed something so obvious as extraterrestrial presence. At the same time, certain organisations, particularly independent organizations that have supported Disclosure efforts, would become increasingly important, serving as a bridge between civilian and government research and helping to maintain scientific transparency.

For this reason, I believe many astronomers are motivated to dismiss anything related to UFOs or Disclosure. Whether consciously or not, they may recognise that a confirmed UFO reality could eventually compete with existing research priorities and funding structures.

BUT here’s the really WEIRD part – the real life Men in Black have been reported all around the world, but can NEVER be traced back to any official government branch or intelligence service, & they are very often described as having something very ODD, UNCANNY & “OFF” about them, almost as if they themselves are NOT normal human beings...or perhaps even from “here”!

So, who are they?

One document discussed deserves attention: a declassified 1971 Australian government assessment titled “Scientific and Intelligence Aspects of the UFO Problem,” prepared by O.H. Turner, Head of the Nuclear Branch in Australia’s Joint Intelligence Organisation.

While the document’s conclusions should be evaluated carefully and in their historical context, its significance lies in the fact that a government intelligence and scientific official was assessing the UFO issue in these terms more than fifty years ago.

The assessment states that early USAF intelligence analyses found some UFO reports involved flight characteristics beyond known U.S. aircraft, and that the analysts involved could only envisage an extraterrestrial origin for some of those reports. It also describes the issue as one involving air defense, intelligence collection, scientific analysis, and potential advanced propulsion research, including questions related to gravity control.

The document further argues that the U.S. government’s public posture shifted toward debunking and ridicule, even as underlying intelligence and scientific questions remained unresolved.

That historical record is directly relevant to the oversight questions being raised today. If government records exist concerning UAP crash retrievals, biological evidence, advanced propulsion, compartmented programs, or past efforts to mislead the public, Congress has a responsibility to obtain them and the public has a right to an honest accounting.

Today’s press conference was another important step toward that accountability. The next step is enforceable disclosure, credible whistleblower protections, and full congressional access to the records and witnesses needed to resolve this issue.
