Very fun @PASAudubon#YoungBirders field trip to Malibu Lagoon this morning in spite of really high tides & overcast conditions. Love a group that's not afraid to get their feet wet! Not a huge number of species but good looks at several. Best bird: 2 Black Oystercatchers.
We are deeply worried about reports of large oil spill in Orange County. We along with the local Audubon Chapters are tracking this closely. If you find impacted wildlife, please do not try to pick up oiled wildlife and report them to 1-877-823-6926 #HBOilSpill
If you want to help with the oil spill, please consider donating items or money to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center, who is on the scene to help marine life affected by the spill. BCC will available for drop off from 9 to 4 daily, and we’ll make sure things get to them!
We are devastated to learn of the 126,000 gallon oil spill impacting our offshore and coastal ecosystems in OC.
If you encounter impacted wildlife, please report your sighting to the Oiled Wildlife Care Network Hotline (877)-823-6926
This is being classified as a “major spill”

Thousands of seabirds saved in Long Beach Harbor with innovation and hard work: We've deployed 10+ platforms – called "haul-outs" – for drowning baby Elegant Terns to safely climb out of water: https://t.co/CwXhXqZCcH

Good news from @AudubonCA: 100% of the thirteen Tricolored Blackbird colonies located on agricultural fields across the San Joaquin Valley in California were protected this year! https://t.co/bgctUcHIe7
Innovation in progress: Haul-outs were tied off at the barge in Long Beach Harbor to help young seabirds get to safety: This allows Elegant Tern adults at nesting colony to feed them until more long-term solutions can be put into place. #BirdRescue

Heading to the #beach this weekend? Look out for our beloved coastal #birds and remember to share the shore. Give birds at least 100 feet of space to safely nest and rest. Same goes for kayaking and water birds! #ShareTheShore
“Birds are a universal language: they connect us. To be able to channel that into paper through artistic medium really gives tangible meaning to that connection. It provides us all a space to celebrate these birds." - #WorldMigratoryBirdDay featured artist Sara Wolman
