Something similar happened to my mother about my late father. When we informed them that he was dead & provided a copy of his death certificate we started getting letters addressed to Dr C deceased. My mother promptly informed them of a change of address to his grave. I’m sure they are probably still sending him letters to the graveyard
@scriptwren@HarrietDerry I would give it a go. The concept of a ferocious, interfering Aunt is universal and they can research the bits they don’t understand. Also the stories are laugh out loud funny.
@campbellclaret The House of Lords did exactly what it is supposed to do and prevented a poorly worded bill from being passed. Perhaps you could campaign for fully funded palliative end of life care rather than the people you claim to support having to rely on charities to provide it.
I am utterly fed-up of seeing comments about the failure of the assisted suicide Bill. As a nurse of 20+ years & a Mum whose daughter died of cancer I opposed it & would fight it with every breath in my body should it ever reappear. Focus instead on improving Palliative care.
Many, many years ago my then teenage son stormed out of the room, slamming the door. I waited ten minutes to allow him to cool down before going into his room and telling him that I remembered the frustrations of being his age but he was going allowed 10 door slams during his life and he had just wasted one over something trivial. He has never slammed a door again.
ITV has announced 70 Up, the documentary following contributors every seven years, is to come to an end.
The director Michael Apted died in 2021. The Up film series has aired since 1964. Final episodes this year.
The problem is Ann-Marie, that just as in our day there is nothing for teenagers to do in the town/city other than hang around. Nearly all the teenagers I know/see are well behaved, even those heading down to the beach for a bbq. Unfortunately it only takes a couple of mischief makers to label all of them.
Fascinating letter in @Telegraph from Airey Neave’s family today.
Perhaps this lead to what the Government must surely have been hoping to avoid, a case of unintended consequences? Let’s hope so. The government’s dreadful, vindictive, one-sided, terrorist rewarding, victim blaming and history-rewriting bill may actually come back to bite them if it allows, thorough the courts, for Neave’s killers and many other murderers like them to finally face justice. @williams_rje
I was at Victoria College in the 1970s and most of the history at O and A level was Irish, plus the history of women’s suffrage and the Industrial Revolution (as it pertained to the development of industrial Ireland). Oh and the American revolution, again with a strong Belfast slant - Volunteers - Grattan’s Parliament - United Irishmen - Henry Joy & MaryAnn McCracken etc.
