A year ago today, this is how Tennessee @GovBillLee responded to nonviolent protests for racial justice last July 4th.
“Liberty and justice” for who exactly?
We still ain’t free.

Over a year after our racial justice protests last summer, D.A. Glenn Funk has gone to the Grand Jury in a secret process to indict me on two additional charges. All my charges remain and I will now face a total of 14 charges. This is why the court date kept getting pushed.

So now Lee wants federal funding since he has a bridge problem, yet he doesn’t want to support Biden’s infrastructure bill that will bring that funding, so he wants to use pandemic money (pandemic didn’t cause that crack). Biden has Bill between a rock and a hard place😉
The CDC is reporting Native Americans have the highest vaccination rate in the country.
Local and state governments could learn a lot from the vaccination campaigns led by Native Nations.
Here's the problem: Liz Cheney is criticizing what she helped create, long before Jan. 6. Trump was lying, stoking racism, inciting violence & yet she voted for him & w/ him. She cannot now claim to be against his lies without repenting & changing her own policy positions.
Grateful that this dangerous bill is dead for the year. Grateful that decency and PEOPLE POWER prevailed. But let’s keep fighting for a community where proposals about laws to run over folks are not even a possibility anymore. Let’s continue to “get in the way” of injustice. ✊🏾🖤
Mitch McConnell said that 100% of his focus is to oppose President Biden. Not 50%, not 80%, but 100%. If we're going to achieve anything meaningful for working families we must use reconciliation, abolish the filibuster and pass legislation with 51 votes. We can't afford to wait.
That one statistic I want everyone to know about violence against Native women is that 97% of survivors have been abused by someone who is not Native.

Video of @brotherjones_ testifying powerfully today against the RUN-OVER-A-PROTESTER Bill in Tennessee, which was going to put the lives of him and his friends and others who speak out in jeopardy.
It's now dead for the year. A rare moment of humanity in this legislature.
