@adgpi Engineers have commenced preparatory works for launching a 240-foot Bailey Bridge at Thoduwawa, Chilaw, in North Western Province.

This bridge will help in restoring a vital coastal link between Colombo and Puttalam.

Sri Lanka: Sacred Devnimori Relics of #LordBuddha arrive in Colombo aboard a special C-130J aircraft of the Indian Air Force, marking their first-ever international exposition.

The Holy Relics, accompanied by high-level Indian delegation headed by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, received by Sri Lanka’s Minister of Buddhasasana Sunil Senevi and Minister of Public Administration Prof. A.H.M.H. Abeyrathna.

#SriLanka: The restoration of the Northern Railway Line launched under an Indian grant-funded project, marking a major step in post-disaster recovery following #CycloneDitwah

The project was inaugurated at the Maho railway station by Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Santosh Jha (@santjha) and Sri Lanka’s Minister of Transport, Highways and Railways, Bimal Rathnayake.

The rail restoration is part of India’s USD 450 million assistance package to help rebuild critical infrastructure damaged by the cyclone.

In response to the request from 🇱🇰, another @IAF_MCC C17 Globemaster aircraft airlifted to Sri Lanka a readily deployable, Bailey Bridge, an urgent requirement to restore road connectivity to areas cut off in the wake of severe devastation due to #CycloneDitwah.

This modular bridge can be deployed in hours at locations where existing bridges have been washed off or damaged in the floods, allowing trucks, ambulances and others carrying essential aid to reach.

The aircraft also brought in 500 water purifiers and 22 personnel including engineers and doctors to strengthen the relief efforts.
