Die Region Kobane leidet weiterhin unter extremen Problemen der Trinkwasserversorgung. Über 200.000 Menschen sind davon betroffen seit das türkische #Erdoganregime am 2. Februar 2025 die zentrale, im Dorf Sheikh Al-Fawqani am Euphrat gelegene Pumpstation zerstörte. Die Wasserversorgung erfolgt nun über Wasserentnahmestellen aus Oberflächenbrunnen und über Tanklastwagen. Die Wasserqualität ist schlecht und mit dem nahenden Sommer steigt das Risiko von Infektions-, Magen-Darm- und Hautkrankheiten. Die Städtefreudschaft Frankfurt-Kobane konnte 13500 Euro sammeln, die ich der Chefin der Wasserabteilung im Rathaus als Unterstützung übergeben konnte. Die Instandsetzung , deren Kosten mehrere Hunderttausend Euro beträgt, wird immer wieder durch Luftangriffe verhindert. Die hier lebenden Menschen mussten das grenznahe Gebiet fast vollständig verlassen, nur vereinzelt sind Bauern zu sehen, die unter Lebensgefahr ihre Felder bestellen. Luftangriffe mit Toten und Verletzten sind keine Seltenheit und sind Bestandteil des durch das #Erdoganregime ausgeübten Terrors gegenüber der hier mehrheitlich kurdischen Bevölkerung. Die Fahrt zur Pumpstation wurde von einem Filmteam des ARD (Matthias Ebert, Redakteur) dokumentiert, das über die Lebensbedingungen der Menschen in Nordostsyrien recherchiert. Der Filmbeitrag wird am Mittwoch 04.06.2025, im Ersten gesendet. #Syrien
