@annikadevils 2 NMCs in the entire NBA. Like, 10 on the average NHL team. Owners need to address this, with some measure of control or penalties (or worse case, lockout) or risk draining the competitive balance in hockey. NBA has put the clamps on 3-headed monster super teams. It helps
Dylan Larkin has never scored 35 goals.
Dylan Larkin has never put up 80 points.
Dylan Larkin has been the captain of a team that has had collapse after collapse after being in playoff contention in March.
Red Wings fans thinking Dylan Larkin “deserves” ANYTHING are jackasses.
He’s been a big part of the problem. And if he has been ass hurt for three years because Yzerman played hardball on his contract and traded his toothless MAGA boyfriend than I’m guessing he’s part of the reason this team is as weak minded as a stormtrooper.
Good riddance. Get some good prospects and build around Seider and Raymond. Maybe someone who can score at even strength.
I’ve been an Yzerman critic for a few years but this is one of the biggest sports IQ tests in a while.
@wyshynski Or a team with a need for a 1C, with assets, that recognizes they can also add a superstar D man, without giving up anything, just one year from now
@WPGJ0CUPS@NikLynam Teams rise and fall. That's sports. But I'll caution you that Jets 1.0 changed GMs and coaches all the time. It amounted to 2 playoff victories in 16 years, an apathetic fan base, and a relocation. It's time for change, but don't expect the league's best lining up for WPG gigs
@NikLynam If you don't think we don't all know the absolute tirade you would go on here if Chevy signed Staal and Martinook a year ago and called them Ehlers' line mates, you're not looking in the mirror enough. Have your fun
@NikLynam Or, like a player who always has to be positioned “just so” to be successful versus one that goes through walls (or simply, to the net) every time an opportunity is presented. Yes, even as a rookie. Your guy finally got the note. That’s how he showed up Game 1. I loved seeing it
@NikLynam Spare us of your regular season arguments, they don’t apply, don’t account for the rigor and matchups in the postseason. They’re useless. Marner and Ehlers are different players now because their environments demand it. You can blame coaching, only that I’ll agree with
@NikLynam +/- has long since been determined to be a team stat, despite your longstanding efforts to dump it on one player. That said, I’m thrilled for Nik Ehlers. If he did this when he was 22 like Stank, Benson, Caufield et al, he’d be locked up in WPG right now. Never showed that
@NikLynam As of this minute, allegedly. Good for you, “moving the goalposts” as you’d say. Have your day in the sun or hollow victories or smug retweets or whatever
@NikLynam Oh look, it’s the guy who hated on “real goals TM” for a decade (I’ll assume, they way he blindly assumes/conflates any opinion challenging his self adulation) now suddenly using them as vindication for all his Ehlers Corsi > Real Goals TM takes. Same same
@HartyNJD Oh no, it's your coaches fault, or your GM's fault, or his line mates fault. Exactly what they said about Nik Ehlers in WPG...until his CAR coach demoted him after 20 games and said your game isn't a CAR game. Finally got the note these playoffs. Clearly Aho hasn't
@JFreshHockey How was putting him with peak Laine and Stastny in 2018 vs a lesser VGK team, when he was the same age as Stank or Benson or Caufield, keeping him from doing more than he did, tho?Can be argued he earned more time, but never blew the doors off with the postseason ice time he had
@ConnorHrabchak1 I thought he needed Scheifele to do this??? Like, imagine the reaction here if Chevy signed Staal and Martinook to be his linemates. Regardless it’s heartwarming to see Ehlers enthusiasts using goals instead of possession stats as playoff vindication. It’s about time
@WPGMurat An epic performance by Ehlers and all those historically putting playoff Corsi > playoff goals, but suddenly pivoting to playoff goals as vindication for their longstanding theories, I guess
Ehlers was brilliant last night. If only we saw that in 2018, when he was Stankoven, Benson or Caufield’s age, and playing with peak Stastny and Laine, against a less talented VGK team
#SoundTheSiren Nikolaj Ehlers has scored as many goals (2) in the first 12 minutes of Game 1 of the #StanleyCup Final as he did in his first 25 playoff games with #nhljets.
