This is why it’s critically important to increase capacity/quality in tandem with affordability.
Centres cannot find enough folks to hire.
Parents cannot find spaces.
None of this can be addressed with patchwork system.
An Early Learning and Child Care system that is publicly funded and universally accessible is the best investment that Canada can make right now.
It’s time for us to work together to finally make #ECEforCanada happen.

Very important thread on how childcare policy must operate within ECE framework: quality, accessibility AND affordability.
We are grateful for gains in affordability—increasing capacity and quality MUST follow.
I spoke with @CBCLabrador morning regarding the challenges of finding childcare in Lake Melville. There is 3 reg childcare centres in our area- Pumpkin House, MFRC, and CNA daycare. PH has no spots for under 2, and then only 4 spots for 2 yr olds.
We need public #education around the role of #ECEs they are experts in early development/education, there to support learning, deliver curriculum, support children/families, it is beyond just child care. @CBCNews@CBCCanada https://t.co/yl2lweIv5I
This is the direct result of progressive organizing in the province for decades, led by women who continue to push for universal childcare. Shout out to these organizers, organizations & unions who were pivotal in this win.

We all have our eye on this issue. We are confident we can work together and challenge each other to build a more quality, accessible, and affordable early childhood education system with fair wages that works for everyone. There is no greater opportunity for prosperity
Thank you @ChesCrosbie for the opportunity to moderate a critical discussion on Early Childhood Education in this province. The industry are passionate, knowledgeable, and committed and their expertise should be at the centre of decision making.
Thank you to @AlisonCoffinNDP and @JordanLabCity for the long standing support of families and universal childcare and speaking to barriers preventing parents and women from entering the workforce and lack of access in Labrador communities.
