Roll up, roll up, it's time for today's #keynote address!
@rmoonesinghe has a clutch of titles which are as impressive as her powerful and unwavering advocacy for the profession and specialty throughout the pandemic and we are very grateful to have her at #CCPOM2022 today.
Sometimes that harm may be minor, or abstract, or a near miss.
Often, it isn't.
We are reminded today of colleagues who have lost their lives to fatigue, often around night shifts.
Few regions lack a story.
We lost our friend before I graduated (not pictured)

We're lucky to have @sally_ghazali back again to talk about #fatigue and #wellbeing
In the ever more pressured, understaffed, overrun @NHS, most of us will recognise these feelings.
Fatigue is undoubtedly harmful, to us, to our colleagues, and to our patients. #CCPOM2022
OK strap in #CCPOM2022, Prof Madhav Swaminathan has come all the way from NC, USA to speak to us about TEE (that's TOE this side of the pond) in emergencies. I shall attempt to translate any Americanisms, if someone could translate the complicated science that'd be super.
It #Q&A time here at #CCPOM2022:
Q: How do you "convince" a pt expecting a GA to have sedation?
A: Most patients prefer it when it's brought up. Offer them a "margarita on the beach" effect (I'll have a mojito if you're going) and titrate to their desired effect as you go!
@ASTC108 Here's our programme for the next two days for anyone following on us twitter or who either hasn't received their welcome email or who might just have filed it in a safe place they can no longer immediately recall... #CCPOM2022
2 days of Critical Care, Perioperative Medicine, and my terrible chat, all from right here in @alberthallnotts!
Come and join us by following #CCPOM2022 for ongoing insights and updates.
That’s a wrap for @PHMMSc toxicology learning pod. Resus science next for the group. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds (!) Countdown now to human factors and performance module for cohort 3! Thanks to all. @QMUL@bartsthelondon@QMULBartsTheLon

🤔Why does iron deficiency cause fatigue, even in the absence of anemia?
I have often equated iron with hemoglobin and oxygen-carrying capacity.
But there is so much more to it!
A fantastic course and opportunity to get to grips with relevant anatomy that can have significant clinical ramifications. Brilliant teaching, excellent content, lots of learning. #PHMMSc
A genuine privilege to spend a week learning, educating & reflecting. Teaching the @PHMMSc is one of the best things I do. Such enthusiasm to be better prehospital clinicians. Exceptional anatomy team @QMULBartsTheLon & expert faculty - thank you for a fantastic 5 days team 🙏
Another interesting morning debating the ethical and legal considerations to TV broadcasting of medical documentaries and professional social media use. #PHMMSc
Busy day of academic wonderfulness @PrehospitalQmul@PHMBSc covering injury scoring and patient outcomes, while @PHMMSc delving deeper into law & ethics - human rights, lasting power of attorney, consent, and now, scenario work. All specifically tailored to prehospital medicine.
The bulk of the morning was spent receiving a wealth of knowledge on medical law. Specific focus on consent and advanced directives. Huge thanks to Mr Henry Frydenson for his enthusiasm and engaging lectures. #PHMMSc
Amazing morning again on the law and ethics pod. First speaker, Ms Katy Watts a lawyer from Liberty, provided loads of relevant information on the Human Rights Act. #PHMMSc
Here we go. Today @PHMMSc we’re on ethics/ law - mental health specifically related to prehospital care. The group has loads of questions from their own practice. Delighted to have @hughg_p @DrChloeBeale@mackenney leading. Proper experts. @PrehospitalQmul@QMULBartsTheLon
Incredibly engaging speakers so far on day one of the ethics and law teaching pod. Talking all things mental health and mental capacity act. #PHMMSc#Cohort3
Superb day today for @PHMMSc with a mock coroner case, with a real coroner, real barristers, in a real courtroom, all framed on a simulated case that the students dealt with a few months ago. Well done everyone. What an experience!! @QMULBartsTheLon
