Tim Farron, "The unpleasantness about this debate is only matched by the lack of proper information" #BBCQT
"85% of refugees settle in the country next to where they come from"
"The French take 3x more refugees than we do"
"The Germans take 4x more refugees than we do"
"If you put us back in the European Union, we are 19th in the league table when it comes to the number of refugees we take per capita"
"Do we need deterrents? Yes. The best deterrents is competence. If we assess people when they arrive - and they are not illegal immigrants - they are people seeking asylum.. From Sudan.. Afghanistan.. Iran.. Syria.. 90%+ turn out to be genuine refugees"
"If we have a competent government, and we haven't had one, let's see about this one.. And you assess them quickly.. And return the ones that are not refugees"
"That is your deterrent"
"Rwanda was a waste of money.. If they spent that money on case workers we could have processed these people, returned the ones that weren't refugees in a humane way, and let th eones who are genuine refugees, become British, pay their taxes, be part of our country, and we should be proud to admit them"
Very well said @timfarron ๐

Featuring 160 local children, some of whom were taking part in a theatre production for the very first time - this Summer Youth Project aims to foster an interest in the creative arts within the local community and I canโt think of a better title to do just that ๐
Prof Stephen Reicher, "I would appeal to you to not call these people protestors. They're not protestors"
"To call them protestors is profoundly misleading. It is to discredit a long tradition of perfectly legitimate and peaceful and important protest that has made our society better in many ways"
"What's going on is specific to these crowds.. Crowd psychology is there when people are cleaning up the streets as well as attacking the streets.. The difference is one group has an ideology of hate and violence, another has a vision of community and solidarity"
"Most people are pro immigration.. The irony is that over recent years attitudes towards immigration has become more positive.. People see immigrants as a boom rather than as a menace to the country.. Britain is one of the more liberal countries"
"If we didn't have migrants then our care service would fall apart, our NHS would fall apart.. It's important not to highlight the negative exceptions, but to show that most people are pro migrants"
As soon as I read the blurb of
#AliceByHeart I immediately pictured a British Schoolgirl wearing a gas mask (because yes - Doctor Who) but the challenge was then to try & tie that back into the iconography of Carrollโs story so that the schoolgirl was also unmistakably 'Alice'
๐ Thrilled to finally be able to share the production shots of my designs for #AliceByHeart at Mountview
Sometimes you encounter a title that seems to really play to your strengths as a designer & I feel like this was definitely one of those gigs
