Proud to see @NotreDame researchers launching a free math app that helps educators tailor instruction to student needs. The app, developed by @ieiatnd and the @lucy_institute, reflects years of research on mathematical cognition.

Want to boost math understanding? Number sense is key!
This NSF-funded tool, developed at Notre Dame, reveals students' understanding of numbers, operations, and how they interact. https://t.co/dRcwLW5caH

@rastokke@NicoleMMcNeil I'm sorry! If you send me a message with your email or send an email to [email protected], we can get you an account to access the test. It's also included in this article: https://t.co/eVwDM8GzDO
Day 2 of #mcls2024!
I’m super excited to share our newest research on mature number sense and arithmetic fluency 🎙️@NicoleMMcNeil@PKatACE
Make sure to stop by MPR at 3:45pm for a great symposium on multiplication fact knowledge this afternoon!
🌟📣 We have an exciting new paper in JRME! Led by @PKatACE and supported by the quant expertise of Alison Cheng of @lucy_institute. This paper shares validity evidence for a brief, easy to use assessment of mature number sense. 🔢 A thread 🧵👇
It’s obvious that Cubs fans are what make the Friendly Confines special. 🫶

Today we visited TutorND tutors at @SouthBendCSC & Head Start of St. Joseph County where we observed tutors engage students in rigorous, affirming learning. Thx so much @NicoleMMcNeil for hosting us & @NotreDame CLAD Lab+tutors for letting us join you! @PKatACE@ACEatND@ieiatnd
@Ed_Realist@mpershan@tomloveless99@amandavande1@benjaminjriley We’re not arguing that kids don’t need to memorize their math facts. But we do believe that there is more to math than only that and I strongly disagree with the idea conceptual understanding gets in the way of memorizing.
@jake_mcm@NicoleMMcNeil@MCLStrainee@mathcogsociety Thanks for your interest! Would love to talk more about the number sentence task. We have a paper under review too that describes and shows the measure. Hopefully we’ll be able to share it one day!
We're looking for 3rd-5th gr. math teachers interested in their students’ number sense! Classes will pilot our number sense assessment. Students will take a 20 min electronic test twice, 2 weeks apart. Teachers receive a $50 honorarium for helping. Interested? Email: [email protected]
Grateful for the opportunity to talk some Number Sense today at #NCEA2022@NCEATALK! Even more grateful to be in New Orleans when it’s snowing in South Bend.
The #NCEA2022 Convention kicks off today, and we have ACE Team members and grads presenting today.

@NicoleMMcNeil@mpershan This is the best elementary info we found for our project last year! MS was really difficult to find anything clear - we used the same methodology as this paper to sample books: https://t.co/cMOB7HJKDB
