The day also included moments of comedy, dance, and team bonding, alongside discussions on upcoming initiatives such as the Kavumu Hydrate project.

Poetry has always been how people carry what is too heavy to simply say. Tonight at Ku Gicaniro, Ian Jabo, Dan Ngenzi, and Aïlan Kamana stood before a room full of youth in Canada and turned 32 years of
memory into verse inherited, and finally spoken aloud.

Papa Jabo and Mama Jabo as Genocide surviviors For 32 years carried what no human should ever carry.

Tonight they sat before us, opened that weight and then called their children to stand beside them.

The children they almost never got to have.

We never met them. But tonight we spoke for them. A generation born after stood on stage and gave voice to the ones who never got to tell their own story. The friends who never made it to adulthood. The futures stolen before they could begin.
