Thank you for hosting @AnthonyDonskov!
@RUGBY_STR_COACH True, but they did bring Cricket to India.
Sport have always been a useful tool for politics and influence. I just don’t fault any player for getting their money while they can.
We’ll probably agree to disagree here, but I appreciate what you’re doing for our industry 🤘🏻🍻
Might consider calling them “players” instead. Basketball, football, hockey, chess, or e-sports players are all playing a game. Not all athletes are players and not all players are athletes.
Webster defines an athlete: “a person trained or skilled in exercises, sports, or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina.” IMO, e-athletics don't require any of the above. Mental stamina yes, but not physical. They don't use strength or agility. That's my line.
@AnthonyDonskov have seen a 21 G impact event in the AHL. The player got absolutely stapled to the boards. Tough game indeed. This is an area of the game that certainly warrants more discussion and consideration.
4 things to measure throughout the in-season week
- volume
- quality
- density
- contact
Ex week for "skill" position
volume = distance
quality = high speed efforts
density = high speed efforts / time
contact = collisions / player load
