I could have traveled to Shivamogga by road last Saturday. However, even though the Shivamogga airport was inaugurated three years ago, I hadn't traveled there by air yet. Consequently, I never had the chance to see the airport itself. That is why, for my recent trip to Narasimharajapura, I flew from Bengaluru to Shivamogga and then proceeded to Narasimharajapura by road.
Shivamogga is one of the fastest-growing cities in the state, and it certainly needed an airport.
I understand that Shivamogga airport is receiving an excellent response from passengers. Initially, there were flights only to Bengaluru, but now its scope and passenger numbers have increased significantly.
In the two years since its inauguration (February 2023), more than one lakh passengers have reportedly traveled through here. Every day, 200 to 300 passengers use this terminal. At one point, there was even a record of over 400 people traveling in a single day.
There is immense demand for the Bengaluru-Shivamogga route. It is very convenient for entrepreneurs, politicians, and those traveling for urgent work. Airlines like Star Air and SpiceJet are providing services to Hyderabad, Chennai, Goa, and Tirupati. The number of passengers to these cities is also steadily increasing.
Due to a shortage of pilots, IndiGo has reportedly decided to temporarily suspend its Bengaluru-Shivamogga service for about three months starting in May. However, since there is high demand, public representatives and ministers are urging for the continuation of the flight services.
To overcome the obstacles to night-time flight operations, a Night Landing Navigation System is now being installed. Once completed, flights can land easily even during adverse weather conditions, further benefiting the passengers.
I had the opportunity to speak briefly with the contractor who built the Shivamogga airport, Mr. Ibrahim Shariff of Thirthahalli. He explained the potential for the airport's future development.
Given the passenger pressure, discussions are underway to provide direct flight connectivity to major cities like Mumbai and Delhi in the coming days. Additionally, there are plans to start a flight training center and an aircraft maintenance (MRO) center there.
The Shivamogga airport has succeeded beyond expectations. For a rapidly growing city in the state, this airport could truly be a "game changer."
@mainbhiengineer The contributions made by couple with kids to the society outweigh that to what D(S)INK contribute.
Being D(S)INK is a personal choice and infra/stress doesn't have any bearing on it. People with kids travel on the same roads too and work their ass of to provide a better life
I’ve started a project to convert Sitaram Goel’s books to professionally produced audiobooks. The first book I will produce is “How I became a Hindu”.
The finished audiobooks will be available for free download. If anyone would like to donate to this project the info is in the quoted post. Dhanyavad.
The edifice of Hindutva always rested on Hindu unity & elimination of caste differences among Hindus- be it the work of Savarkar in Ratnagiri from 1924 or the efforts of Guruji Golwalkar to get the entire sant samaj to adopt the resolution 'Hindavaha sahodara sarve, na Hindu patitho bhavet'(all Hindus are brethren & none is 'fallen') in 1966-69.
This being the case for 100+ years, it is truly baffling to see the latest #UGCRegulations that go against EVERY tenet of Hindutva & civilizational oneness, setting community against each other in a strange & perverse move of positive discrimination, as against offering legitimate affirmative action for all economically & socially backward communities.
The eerie echoes of the aborted Communal Violence of the UPA era are hard to miss for any sensible person. One truly hopes better sense prevails on the Government & this draconian law brought in hubris is repealed before it cleaves the society permanently. #UGC_RollBack #UGC_काला_कानून_वापस_लो

@VarmaAshi No.... bad idea. There is a sacred grove around that may need protection, but a "structure" will spoil the place.... and the worst will be a sarkari attempt to "save" the place with a cement "temple". The shrine survived the Portuguese but will not survive the PWD
In a sacred grove in the inland forests of Goa, there is an ancient shrine to Nau Devi - the goddess of ocean voyages. We went there today to seek her blessings for our stitched ship project
Siliguri Corridor is a 78-year-old anomaly created by Bharat’s partition, which should have been corrected in 1971. Now that there is an open threat to the nation’s sovereignty, it is time to nourish the chicken and allow it to evolve into an elephant. -Sg
So what is life like aboard @INSVKaundinya ? Modern amenities are minimal except for safety and communications. This is how is looks under the deck. As you can see, there are no cabins and just a dark hold for storing supplies. Mostly we sleep on the open deck with sleeping bags, but in rough weather we will have to take turns to sleep here between the boxes. 1/n
As much as I love Bengaluru Cafe, VB, CTR, Umesh’s etc, they need to stop papadification of masaale dosay! Its getting thinner and crispier by the day and losing the charm of a well made dosay which is essentially softer all through and crispier only at the edges. Maga MDGA!!
