@disneytipsguy wasn’t much to do. The main pool (lagoon) had two similar slides and a family raft ride; the smaller pool had a half slide that hurt when you hit the water. Even in RC’s prime, there was rarely a wait. Beautiful park but it was empty summer 2001 and we got bored after an hr.
@Billy_Ocean_ Which theater? Even busy ones are slow at times. We saw TS5 at a 30 screen AMC near my parents’ house. 600 person auditorium with maybe a dozen people watching at 6:30pm Friday.
@JimShull DLR price does not include any additional land cost, the cost of land + construction for Mickey & Friends (owned by Anaheim) or the $760M Anaheim spent on the resort district. Universal Kids is a low budget park and being judged unfairly.
@JimShull The entire budget of Universal Kids, including land acquisition, was $550M. The DLR project was $1.4B, of which $600M went toward DCA. That’s almost $3B adjusted for inflation although the true replacement cost is probably over $5B (given the increase in construction cost).
@SoCal360 Costco is at $4.459 in La Harbor and Fullerton, $4.699 in Huntington Beach. There are some non-branded gas stations in Anaheim and Santa Ana selling for as low as $4.099.
@SoCal360 Costco prices can vary heavily by location in any state. Fountain Valley is currently $4.549 whereas Irvine is $5.099. Irvine generally runs 50c higher than the Tustin Ranch (itself located on the northern border of Irvine) a few miles up the road.
@Mouskegamer The park was built for $550M. Tickets are inexpensive, an AP is less than a day’s admission to UOR. Y’all were expecting a $10B EU 2.0 but if that were built out you’d be crying about the admission cost.
@lego_man2008 It’s not going to hurt their brand. It’s going to provide a low cost, short getaway for millions of families. That will make them happy and perhaps more loyal to Universal. The unhappy ones will be the adults flying to Dallas and traveling to a kids park expecting EU2.0.
@coasterclairee It is cheap. They’re managing the park’s capacity whereas Six Flags and Sea World pack them in, leading to long waits. You get what you pay for.
@DisTouristBlog Outpace? OBB have been on sale to the general public for less than 24 hours whereas MNSSHP have been available for five weeks. Only Halloween is sold out for MNSSHP, just like OBB.
@McFranchisee@McDonalds It looks pretty nice in the pics. The current design is very uninviting and institutionalized looking. Glad they’re making a change although still disappointed that the days of watching local sports teams w a crowd while eating cheap are over.
@BreakShifts The park cost $550M, a fraction of EU’s nearly $8B. An annual pass cost less than a day’s admission to EU. Twitter folks will literally bitch about everything.
@LiamFromOrlando Like every other piece of construction, attractions have a useful life before they require significant recapitalization. Sometimes it makes more sense to invest in new. Disney Adults are just too fucking stupid to understand this. Because it’s builtout, doesn’t mean it’s free.
@BickleKun@geekritique_dak You’re hung up over the name. Despite its popularity within the fan community and positive opinions from those who’ve seen it, word of mouth is doing nothing to get people into theaters. MOTU reboot in the early 2000s tanked. People are over this franchise.
@CLS1954@disneytipsguy Yeah, you could also get a Coke from a soda fountain for a dime and still have enough change left over to order a burger from McD’s.
@wakefieldreport Experiences are removed when they’re no longer viable. PI was dead in its final yrs despite numerous attempts to increase attendance. Nationally, 90% of night clubs have closed since 2000. They’re closing even in Las Vegas, Sunset Strip, etc. it’s not bc of evil Iget…
@KateFisher96 I recognize that Disney is a business and it cost $ to operate and maintain attractions and $$ increases as the attractions age thus it’s reasonable to replace aging attractions waning in popularity. Thankfully memories live on.
