Making zines by Black & Brown folks easy to find+distribute+share. An experiment in activism thru materiality since ‘10. Changing name. Tweets by @dcap
I have tweeted this periodically over 10+ years, here it is again: don’t approach me & other qtpoc to help you w/ your research project if you haven’t yet determined a budget to compensate me & others for our labor. Being cited in your study/report/book isn’t compensation.🧵
^and yes I will be bringing zines to share ❤️

For every photo and video you see of the Minneapolis general strike, there are organizers behind it. Some from labor, some from the faith community, some from their street who just wanted to help.
The working class has power.
On Monday, October 20, a federal judge ordered the DoDEA to immediately restore the 600+ books & zines it scrubbed from more than 100 Defense Department K-12 public schools that serve 67,000 children of military personnel – and to cease from removing more.

You know what data viz research & project the world actually needs from a yt person in academia? Compiling all the anti-Black and anti-trans zines/indie materiality targeting white cis youth to enroll them into an adulthood of oppressing BIPOC & QTPOC w/laws & societal barriers.
This applies especially to queer media in any shape and form
You like this cute lesbian comic? SAVE IT
any trans related zines? SAVE THEM
DONT LET THEM GET ERASED

Uh why did a yt person send @poczineproject an IG DM a few days ago asking 2 help them find copies of multiple zines written by *yt* folks? Oh cuz this happens *all the time* since ‘10, cuz many yt people still invade every space & expect free labor. The audacity is strong in ‘24
✨ Very excited that my book proofs have arrived! “The Politics of Care Work: Puerto Rican Women Organizing for Social Justice” will be out in May from @DukePress ✨ It’s starting to feel real!
"I’m not anti-Semitic at all, but I am anti-Zionist. I don’t believe they have the right, after 3,000 years, to reclaim the land with western bombs and guns on biblical injunction."
