Let’s be real: did any of us actually stop calling it Data Studio?

There’s something about that name that feels right. It brings back memories of those late-night dashboard builds, the first time a client’s eyes lit up over a clean report, and the simplicity of a tool that just worked without the enterprise complexity.

While the "Looker Studio" era had its perks, it always felt a bit like calling a childhood friend by their full legal name. It was technically correct, but the soul was missing.
Google’s decision to bring the name back feels like a rare win for the community. It’s a nod to the fact that this tool is and always has been the "people’s" BI platform. It’s for the builders, the ad-hoc explorers, and the storytellers.

Data Studio is once again the dedicated home for personal, ad-hoc data exploration.

The Best of Both Worlds: We keep the powerful integrations with BigQuery and Colab, but with the brand we actually love.

Clarity at last: Looker stays enterprise-focused; Data Studio stays accessible.

It feels good to have the old name back in my browser's tab. It’s like a favorite pair of jeans that finally fits again.
