VIDEO | Imphal: Bank employees in Manipur staged a protest demanding the implementation of a five-day banking system, a fair performance-linked incentive (PLI) scheme and adequate recruitment in public sector banks.

United Forum Bank Union, Manipur State convenor S Sanahal Sharma, said, "Under the bipartite settlement, it was agreed that the government would consider implementing five-day banking in all public sector banks in India."

Trade Unions claim Sept 11 Bank Strike a great success. Nationwide strike demanding immediate implementation of 5-day workweek & resolution of pending wage-related issues. Next, 3-day day strike call on Sept 28-30. On 27 January, there was 1 day strike, demanding 5- day week.

In terms of bankers participation in demonstrations and rallies on strike day it has been a good one much better and bigger than the previous one .
Media publicity on every media platform is also encouraging .this reflects wider public support for our just and much delayed demand of 5 days banking week.
Now over to UFBU leadership to sustain this movement momentum till 28 sep when we will go on 3 days strike if till then government does not announce date of implementation of 5 days banking week.

वैसे कुछ हद तक इनकी बात सही भी लगतीं है…

मेरे दो चार दोस्त है… जो बैंकिंग सेक्टर में काम करते हैं

उनके काम का और समय का कोई हिसाब किताब ही नहीं है…

सुबह का तो उनका समय तय होता है…

लेकिन शाम को छुट्टी का कोई समय फ़िक्स नहीं होता

कभी चार बजे छूटते है

कभी 5, कभी 6… 7…8 भी बज जाते हैं….

काम का बहुत प्रेशर रहता है…

उस हिसाब से देखें तो उनकी ये माँग जायज़ लगती है…

We have two primary demands: first, the implementation of a five-day banking week, a matter the government has been stalling on for a long time; and second, the issue of the Performance-Linked Incentive (PLI). The government implemented this PLI unilaterally, and it is highly discriminatory and fraught with disparities… Regarding the five-day banking week, there is blatant bias. All operate on a five-day schedule, while public sector banks are treated differently… Our demand is simply that banks remain closed every Saturday.”
