Alt Season for this Cycle is Close or Closed ?

Even I want to know, So I went researching past cycle trends & found something interesting.

And Since I spent time researching on it, why not share it.

So Lets start with Crypto Bull Cycle of 2016-2017 🔽

First - Lets Look at what happened during 2016-2017 Crypto Bull Cycle - Where we saw actual entry of alt coins & First Alt Season Triggered by Ethereum ICO Boom.

So Crypto Bull Cycle in 2016 was trigged by Bitcoin Halving on 09.07.2016 (Bitcoin Price was around $700)

235 Days Later on 1st March - Bitcoin Broke Prev. ATH of $1200, Triggering Start of First Alt Season or should I say ETH ICO Season.

Alt Coin Market Cap at the start was just $1 Billion with Bitcoin Dominance sitting at 96%.

Alt Season ran for 310 Days with Alt coin market reaching new ATH of $473 Billion & Bitcoin Dominance falling to 35%.

During this time - Altcoins like Ethereum (ETH) surged from $8 to $1,400 (~17,400% gain), and many smaller altcoins saw 10x-100x pumps.

But Alt Season finally came to an end, when The Big Daddy of the Market - Bitcoin peaked on 17th Dec, Making a new ATH of $19,600. Marking the start of two year Bear Cycle

So Now that we had a look at first Crypto Bull Cycle, Lets move on to Next Crypto Bull Cycle of 2020-2021 🔽

Crypto Bull Cycle of 2020-2021

Surprisingly even here - Crypto Bull Cycle was trigged by Bitcoin Halving again on 11.05.2020 (Bitcoin Price was around $8700 - 55% lower than 2017 ATH of $19,000)

But on 30th Nov 2020 Bitcoin Broke Prev. ATH of $19,700

And yet again similar to 2016-2017 Bull cycle - 237 Days (03.01.2021) later, after Bitcoin Halving - Marked the start of Second Alt Season.

Alt Coin Market Cap during that time was around $200 Billion (Less than half of 2017 ATH -$473 Billion) with Bitcoin Dominance sitting at 74%.

Similar to Prev Bull Cycle - Alt Season again ran for 309 Days with Alt coin market reaching new ATH of $1.7 Trillion & Bitcoin Dominance falling to 40%.

During this time - Altcoins like Dogecoin (DOGE) rose 6,000% (from $0.002 to $0.73), and Ethereum climbed from $130 to $4,891 (3,660% gain) with some other alts giving 10x+ returns.

But as we say all good things come to end, Alt Season ended on 10th Nov, after The Big Daddy Bitcoin made a new ATH of $69,000. Marking the Start of two year Bear Cycle.

Now that we have had a look at 2 Crypto Bull Cycles, Lets Look at Current Crypto Bull Cycle of 2024-2025,

Which is turning out to be Different. 🔽

Crypto Bull Cycle 2024-2025

So something different happened in this cycle.

Unlike 2 Previous Bull cycles - This time the Trigger for Start of the Bull Run was on 10 Jan 2024 with Bitcoin ETF approval - Which was 3 Months Before Bitcoin Halving.

Bitcoin Halving which always triggered the start of Bull Cycle in Previous Cycles.

On 8th March 2024 - Bitcoin for the First time Broken Prev. ATH of $69,000, This was approx 1 month before Bitcoin Halving.

19th April 2024 - Bitcoin Halving Activated.

This clearly shows that the timeline changed due to Bitcoin ETF approval news.

But If try to assume what would have happened if Bitcoin Halving was the Trigger not Bitcoin ETF approval & similar to past 2 bull cycle trend ?

Well, Approx 236 Days from Bitcoin Halving, 11th Dec 2024 should have marked the start of Alt Season and ran for 310 Days till Oct 2025.

Note - 11th Dec 2024 - Alt Marketcap was at $1.5 Trillion (200 Billion lower than 2021 ATH), Bitcoin was at Dominance 57%.

But this clearly didn't happen till now !

Moving on Bitcoin Made new ATH at $109,300 on 20th Jan 2025. Which I don't think is the top BTW.

1 month Later (24th Feb 2025) - Bitcoin is currently trading at $96,000 With Bitcoin Dominance sitting at 61% with Alt Marketcap of $1.2 Trillion (500 Billion Lower than 2021 ATH)

So What does it mean ? Where Alt Season ? 🔽
