Bitcoin is Trading Near Cost of Mining a New Bitcoin

💭 Everyone’s shouting “Bitcoin is in a bubble!”
especially gold bugs and mainstream pundits who still think gold is “fairly valued.”

Let’s look at the numbers instead of narratives 👇

🔹 Bitcoin:
Average all-in mining cost ≈ $105,000
Current price ≈ $110,000
➡️ Trades around cost of production — hardly a bubble.

🔹 Gold:
Average all-in mining cost ≈ $1,700/oz
Current price ≈ $4,300/oz

➡️ That’s a 200% premium over production cost.

The irony is — those calling Bitcoin a bubble are sitting on an asset trading far above its cost curve.

It’s not Bitcoin that’s euphoric.

It’s gold that’s priced for perfection(Will not dare to call it a bubble as its a safest heaven), but asset allocation check is needed at this stage.

In my observation over past 2 decades for various commodities, have seen prices dropping upto 10% below cost of production. But bitcoin because its volatile can bring a little more volatility .

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has explicitly stated that bitcoin is a commodity under the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA).

For example, the CFTC’s “Bitcoin Basics” document states: “Virtual currencies, such as Bitcoin, have been determined to be commodities under the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA).”
