“Diederich out of the bullpen to retire 15 of last 18 Mariners batters” (7/28/24)

Mason Diederich entered the game on the mound in the top of the 3rd inning with a 2-0 lead vs the MoveSmart Mariners. That would be more than enough runs needed for the former Eureka Red Devil, Diederich to secure a Kohls Diamond Gallery Royals 2-0 victory. Diederich retired the 15 of the 18 final Mariners batters of game. Diederich struck out 6 while only surrendering 1 hit and 1 BB.

The game also featured great pitching from Royals starter, Toby Turnquist (Monmouth College): 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R

And Mariners starting pitcher, Gunnar Wilson (Olympia): 6 IP, 1 H, 4 Ks, 2 R

Aidan Parkins (Monmouth College): 1 RBI
Connor Drowns (Elmhurst College): 1 RBI

An incredible defensive play was also made by Movesmart’s 3rd baseman, Chase Reid (Sauk Valley) in the bottom of the 4th inning.

A Sunday Morning League crew made the trip to St. Louis last week to see their friend and former Peoria Sunday Morning League teammate, Mason McCoy, play shortstop for the San Diego Padres.

Post season has started. The 5th seed Royals grabbed a 4-1 victory over 4 seed Tin Lizard Titans and will move on in the winners bracket vs the top seed Pour Bros Jacks tomorrow.

Congratulations to Josh Caruso of the Kohls Diamond Gallery Royals. In last nights final regular season game, Caruso passed Hairy Dean Blair (1945-1964) to move into 2nd Place on the All-Time strikeout list. 💎

Josh continues to put up impressive numbers in his 21st season. He’s one of the top in league with a 1.41 ERA and 50 Ks in 39.2 IP.
