First, some general comments about the importance of paleoclimate research from a policy and societal impact assessments perspective, and the caveats and challenges in public-facing discussions and presentations of research findings [3/6].

I’m unable to present at the @NSF/@NASciences#P2C2 workshop on future priorities for paleoclimate research this week (https://t.co/Rt2xsuQihj), so I’ve provided my thoughts and suggestions in advance of the meeting. [2/6]
My research interests are varied (see below), but they continue to include paleoclimate & the lessons we can & cannot draw from it. I will be providing my thoughts regarding possible research priorities for the community moving forward. [THREAD]

"Climate dynamics seminar examines intersection of climate and social justice" | My colleague and friend Greg Jenkins speaking about a critical topic in our @PSUClimate & @PSUEarth seminar series next Wednesday: https://t.co/Rywn97oUWj
Our Spring 2021 special seminar series, in cooperation with @PSUEarth, begins in two weeks (on 27 January) with a talk from Sridhar Anandakrishnan. @MichaelEMann

We (@PSUClimate) predicted as many as 24 named storms, the most bullish of the pre-season forecasts. Alas, it wasn’t quite bullish enough...

.@MichaelEMann's group at Penn State predicted 15-24 named tropical cyclones this year and said if anything, their model will underestimate the actual. That indeed happened with 27 total storms this season so far. More on how this compares to 2005 coming up @ 6:15 on @abc27News.
