Couple this with pay erosion, a recruitment crisis and reduction in bed stock/community social care.
Any wonder doctors are saying #NHS is broken? Is it any wonder there are #strikes?
Failures by successive governments? Or ‘juvenile delinquent’ doctors?
@TheBMA@wesstreeting
Let’s go back to 2010!
We didn’t need cancer pathways as urgent referrals were seen in 2-3 weeks, routine in 2-3 months
Recruitment was rising, jobs were good. It wasn’t perfect but in 4 decades of NHS work it was the best it had been
THEN SOMETHING HAPPENED ….

There are thousands of trained doctors in the UK right now — unemployed. Not because they’re unnecessary. Not because there’s no demand. But because the government refuses to fund the NHS roles we desperately need.
In this video, I explain how government austerity, fiscal dogma, and a fundamental misunderstanding of money are forcing young doctors out of medicine — and even out of the country — while people are left waiting for treatment.
If we have the doctors, we can fund the doctors. So why won’t they?https://t.co/14Yg8MfhyW
Sick of being called ‘greedy’,
Brown line is consultants, way below the zero line, the blue line is average workers, back above zero. Average pay has climbed at about equal rates over last 3 years but consultant pay still nearly 20% down graph (CPI). There’s full tax restoration, where’s the pay restoration journey, show us Wes.
The results are in: we have a clear mandate to strike.
More than 90% of you who voted in our ballot, voted YES.
You’ve made it clear: enough is enough.
Our fight for full #PayRestoration for resident doctors in England continues.
@wearfigs Great to see your 20% discount for NHS staff, however you seem to have excluded us NHS workers in Northern Ireland.
Your system doesn’t recognise our ‘https://t.co/0OlTR4LHQS’ work email; none of us here have ‘https://t.co/Kv2Az38GCE’ emails.
Hopefully temporary 🤞

If true?
It will be a huge step forward for #PatientSafety in the #NHS
The false equivalence needs to stop
The public deserves better.
And much kudos to all concerned for keeping working on it.

@PolestarCars @SpiritMotorGrp Great day down at Polestar Dublin test driving the #Polestar3. Stephen excellent and extremely helpful. Well worth the drive down from Belfast!

Understanding that doctors aren’t worth 25-30% less than in 2008 would be central to this; doing substantially more for less pay.
Latest Technology and an expanded app won’t achieve much without staff.
#fullpayrestoration
Most of the “literature” to facilitate the role out of PAs and AAs is more fiction than fact. @trishgreenhalgh reveals the substandard quality, gaps in the literature, and measurement/outcome bias.
The literature does not stand up to scrutiny!

So NI unions (@BMA_NI@RCN_NI@NASUWT@unisontheunion) having to fight tooth and nail to get between 5-6% uplifts for 24/25, with public sector pay awards being consistently delayed/diluted but MLAs award themselves 38%. Farcical
I voted against today's motion, while many MLAs bent over backwards to justify this extortionate pay increase for themselves.
In no other job would a 38% increase be considered reasonable. Why should MLAs be treated differently than any other worker?
