A welcome judgment by the High Court ruling that visa conditions imposed on YBFZ were unconstitutional and invalid. We commend @RefugeeLegal for their work on this important case.

We are disappointed that after eight months of consideration, the government has rejected three key recommendations for meaningful reform and has failed to provide a more comprehensive response or commitment to act on others.

I agree. Evidence is clear that bringing children into the criminal justice system only serves to entrench offending; why enact reforms to bring more children into custody on remand when the real answer is intensive, wrap around services to support rehabilitation?
We do not support the state government’s plan to trial electronic monitoring of children on bail or its decision to not proceed with further bail reforms for children.
