Great coaches push you.
Correct you.
Challenge you.
Not to tear you down, but to raise you up.
Growth isnāt easy.
Itās reps, setbacks, and hard truths.
But thatās how transformation happens.
Be coachable.
Youāre not being punishedāyouāre being prepared.
āI donāt complain about playing time.
My job is to play so well that the coach canāt sit me.
If I wasn't going to make it - it wasn't going to be because my lack of attitude, my habits, and my energy.
I brought it every single day."
"Bad habits have a cost. Good habits have a price."
Mediocrity takes everything and gives you nothing.
Excellence demands everythingābut nothing less will make you great.
When your journey gets toughāwhen the weight feels unbearable, the path feels endless, and doubt starts creeping ināremember this: it's supposed to be hard.
āSuccess is momentary, itās not continuous. Itās right then, this is what you did, thatās over and done with. You better be where your feet are and move onto the next one,ā Nick Saban
Winners use successful moments as building blocks en route to building competitive greatness.
A friendās son was scratched this weekend. He asked for advice. I said, why was he scratched ?
Coach said he wasnāt moving his feet!
Can we please start being direct with players ? Why coach them if we canāt help them. Scratching a player is part of the sport. But when are these generic answers going to stop ?
-You werenāt moving your feet
-Need more from you
- just the decision Iām going with
Show them, take 5 minutes AFTER the weekend and show them 3 clips. It goes way further with players
Outside of my 9 year old I have rarely seen a player not move their feet. Tell them, they were late to plays and it made them fall behind. Then show them.
As a coach if you scratch a player you should expect to show them how to get better. Itās why we do it !
āDonāt be a blame guy. Thatās the first sign of loser mentality when you blame someone else for a mistake,ā Kirby Smart
The first step in becoming a winner is learning how to win.
If your name is attached to something, never settle for just being average. From the time your eyes open till the time your head hits the pillow, strive to fight mediocrity. Donāt just be good when you can be great.
Effort isnāt just showing up.
Itās about showing up right.
Itās about doing the small things when no one is watching, making the sacrifice to put the work in when itās not convenient.
You donāt get results by hoping for them.
You get results by earning them.
Champions donāt negotiate with their standards.Ā Ā
The standard isnāt about being great when itās convenientāitās about being great when itās not.Ā
Because at the end of the day, thereās no room at the top for anyone who picks comfort over consistency.
"Winning requires you to be different and different scares people.
You are either interested or obsessed.
Interested is a hobby.
Obsession comes in the small details that no one pays attention to."
-Tim Grover
