This #poetry message carries over to every area of our lives + the "you" is simultaneously singular, plural and universal.

To quote @BeauTFC, "There are people out there trying to make the world better. Be one of them"

[Plague Poems @PlaguePoems]

I don’t know what to tell you
other than that we
must try
to take care of each other
and though I know
that you aren’t listening
I’ll keep repeating it anyways
if for no other reason
than to ensure
that I do not forget.

LEARN TO READ

Learn to read
for it will give you
the power to move ahead;
it will give you a better life
You will go places

But you know
how to read
and you're always here
You never go anywhere

I'm here for you
You will go to
high places
and then, if you like,
you can
take me with you

Here's the ravaging effect of #disinformation:

The global town square lies in ruins, its architecture choked by the vines and tangled vegetation of a wild informational jungle, @cwarzel writes.

Cape Verde has avoided civil war and violent coups since proclaiming independence from Portugal in 1975, but that relative peace hasn’t always resulted in prosperity. https://t.co/2FibJnGiKP

This #Halloween, I’m unmasking the dark money-funded tricksters who pose as locals to influence my community. Ask: who benefits by poisoning us against funds for educating kids and cleaning the air? When you see hate and division, check the motives of the source! #TruthBrigade

[Poets&WritersPicnic @PWPicnic]

@RoseantT Shared because I support #TruthBrigade but immediately un-posted when I noticed that out of context @hahussain quote reeked of #Islamophobia.

@RajRajaru As someone having recently passed the 80 year mark, this resonates and then some...

[Raj Arumugam @RajRajaru]

LIFE OF A PEASANT WOMAN
It's a life
and it runs its way
we can love this
or desire that
but what grows
on the Tree of Life
is what it is

1
It's been all sorts of things, this life
it's what it is...now I'm frail and I struggle
to stand up straight and splatter food
when I eat, unable to grind meat
with my few shaky teeth...
2
I had my season
of spring, it's been what it is...
I ran off with a rake
who only wanted me for a week in an inn;
and I came back humbled, to my dad,
who took me in after ten cracks of the whip...
it's been what it is...a good farmer took me
and we had three children,
but he was married to the
land...but he was a good man, good father
he did what a man could do...he died with
two of our sons
on a trip to the market
murdered by thugs
3
...and my daughter lives
by South Street..but I will
go nowhere but here
where my husband's body was
washed, and the bodies
of my two sons...it's what it is...
I'll live my last days,
staggering from one corner
to another....it's all what it is...
These days I'll pass
with my mother's song

It's a life
and it runs its way
we can love this
or desire that
but what grows
on the Tree of Life
is what it is

🧵 Students deserve to be able to read educational resources and works of literature that “reflect their identities and the complexities of their lives,” @jonfreadom, PEN America’s director of Free Expression and Education Programs, testified today. https://t.co/qxZsi35BAa

When the Palestinians threaten to harm Israel, they don't have resources to achieve much.
When Israel threatens, it has the power & resources already. Why does Israel need additional US aid (it is the top recipient of it & among the top 20 countries in terms of GDP per capita)?

@DebraLeighScott (Vanessa here) set a reminder on phone to get up and walk around every hour or so to prevent clots forming in legs and traveling upwards.

It's mostly bad news that Austin has become such a big city now...but the one upside is getting to see a live show like this, which is coming to Austin next week! :-)

Is there a universal sign/emoji/emoticon for sarcasm? Or symbol to indicate presence of a dry British humour? One that my friends in the USA might recognise? 👀🤷‍♀️

Asking for a friend. (Me, I’m asking for me 👀😬🤦🏼‍♀️)
