✍️ With players like Reece James, Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer and Joâo Pedro, I have no fear about Chelsea next season. New signings or not.

I mean our collapse has made people think we are finished and we have a useless squad, but for me, this squad still has a lot of quality to be competitive.

But the problem was and is still coaching. This squad is too weak physically to play the physical game most teams in the Premier League demand from us. We aren't built to out-duel and out-run opponents. We are a team that performs when we are well-coached to play to our strengths. And Maresca proved it.

If we are coached well to use and control space in possession, keep a tight block, put players in positions where they will show the best versions of themselves and counter-press well out of possession, we suddenly come back to life. That's why I strongly believe we need to improve the squad but we mostly need to be well-coached to play to our strength a lot more than we did last season.

And no better coach to do that than Xabi Alonso. If you think Enzo Maresca is good at coaching positional play, just wait for Xabi Alonso and see how this team will look in 4-5 months. Without Europe, that could be enough to get us looking like a serious team again.

I have strong believe in his coaching ability. I'm not saying Maresca isn't top but I rate Alonso higher. I hope it shows in our game next season. I'm really looking forward to next season.
