@SkyNews EU Packaging waste directive PPWR states that by 2029 90% of this kind of waste must be collected, making DRS (deposit return scheme) an imperative. We already have it here in the Nordics and I’ve even seen the first machines in poland this summer. UK needs to up the pace.

#DRS seen for the first time during my holiday in Poland 🇵🇱. Currently only managing PET, but I’m fairly sure the @TOMRARecycling equipment i saw in Lidl will be handling alu cans soon. Good to see! #Recycling

Our public bins are filled with materials which could be recycled instead of landfilled or incinerated, or could have been avoided by remembering reusables. We desperately need policies like the #DepositReturnScheme to limit waste and incentivise proper disposal of materials.
