@yashar@Oprah My mom and dad let my gay cousin live with us when he was 17 I was 12 years old. I never looked at him as being different, now I have a gay son and am so grateful I had great parents.
.@RepMTG Let's get a few things straight, given your penchant for spreading disinformation:
1. Refugees from Gaza: This is a LIE. There's no official policy indicating such intentions. That's your subjective take, Marjorie, to fearmonger. Plus, refugees are often placed in multiple countries as part of international cooperation on displacement and refugee resettlement.
Remember, our nation once opened its arms to Jews escaping Nazi persecution. The decision to accept refugees is multifaceted, taking into account security, humanitarian needs, and global obligations. It's not about tossing around random numbers without context.
The U.S. has stringent security screening and background checks for refugees. The USRAP screening includes both biometric and biographic checks, which occur at multiple stages throughout the process, including immediately after the preliminary Resettlement Support Center (RSC) interview, before a refugee’s departure to the United States, and on arrival in the U.S. at a port of entry.
2. Labeling refugees as antisemitic and terrorist supporters: Really? It's alarmingly simplistic and downright dangerous to brand all refugees as antisemitic or terrorist sympathizers. Refugees are fleeing from persecution and violence. They're victims, not villains. The UN has been clear: terrorists don't get refuge. And, FYI, the U.S. has robust vetting mechanisms to weed out any potential threats.
3. On the Biden administration "importing" illegal immigrants: Imported, Marjorie? They aren’t commodities. That 1.6 million figure you're spewing? It doesn't represent people the Biden administration personally ushered in. Immigration issues span multiple administrations, and it's intellectually lazy to pin it on just one. As for the notion that the administration is "forcing Americans to pay"? Immigration economics isn’t a simplistic ledger; it’s a vast tapestry of costs, contributions, and benefits.
Our asylum laws need an overhaul, but Republicans refuse to collaborate on comprehensive reform.
You exploit fear about the border while benefiting from undocumented labor. The "open border" attack on Biden is false, he's deployed record border security resources and cooperation with Mexico.
Contrary to the narrative you're promoting, the Biden administration has been proactive:
They've deployed over 23,000 agents, providing more border security than any prior administration.
They're actively working to reduce illegal crossings and expedite legal migrations.
President Biden's budget allocates nearly $25 billion for CBP and ICE. The administration is also cooperating with Mexican President López Obrador on border and migration issues.
Additionally, there are targeted initiatives to address migration root causes in Central America.
So, painting a picture of indifference from Democrats or Biden regarding the border is not just misleading but factually incorrect.
A more collaborative approach from both sides, instead of just pointing fingers, might yield a comprehensive immigration reform we desperately need.
2024 Elections can't come soon enough to vote these DO-NOTHING, attention seeking, fearmongers out of the House.
