In the novel there's a scene where she travels from Harbin to Beijing to be with him because he's sick and can't come to her. It's New Year's and she doesn't want to stay apart from him. They still have that unspoken tension and rift between them, but she comes to him regardless. Her parents also encourage her because they'd seen the efforts Luan Nian had put into winning her back.

So she drives 10 hours with Luke along to be with him. Luan Nian is furious because she drove alone for 10 hours, but at the same time he's so damn happy that she came all that way for him. And then the next day he takes her to formally meet his parents. 😭

I just LOVE this part of the novel. I remember reading it and feeling so ridiculously emotional over them, and I was genuinely hoping they'd include it in the drama. We didn't get that scene, but we got this instead, and it's practically the same emotional beat here too, just with a different context and background.

Still, a tiny part of me will always be mourning the Harbin-to-Beijing drive because THERE WAS SO MUCH EMOTION IN THAT SCENE. 😭

First of all, let’s get one thing straight: the anger was NEVER about how much time BTS got. We’re not five-year-olds throwing a tantrum because our favorite people didn’t get enough screen time. We know BTS are grown men with packed schedules, and THEY decide how much they want to show up. That was never the issue.

The issue was the shitty microphones, the absolutely embarrassing way they were brought in and taken out, and the complete lack of basic respect and professionalism toward one of the biggest artists on the planet.

But YOU sitting there on your little unknown show, with your equally unknown friends, talking about BTS and ARMYs like THAT? And calling millions of people “losers” while going “Jin, Kook, or whatever his name is” because apparently learning the names of the people you’re discussing was too much work? 😭

And let’s talk about the funniest part: you literally put BTS footage in your video while claiming you’re “not using them.” BABE. You are using their images, their names, their performance, their fandom, their relevance AND their fanbase to generate engagement for your own content. 😭

You don’t get to drag BTS for attention and then pretend BTS has nothing to do with why anyone is watching your clip.

And honestly, the fact that you think ARMY being loud online somehow gives you permission to disrespect an entire fandom is hilarious. You can call individual tweets cringe. You can criticize online behavior. Nobody is stopping you. But turning that into “BTS ARMYs are losers” because you want a cheap punchline is just lazy.

And BTS? You don’t have to like them. You don’t have to know their discography. You don’t even have to know who Jin or jungkook are, apparently. But if you’re going to put their faces on your screen, talk about them for content, and use their name to get attention, maybe show the tiniest bit of respect while doing it.

Because let’s be brutally honest: if BTS were as irrelevant as you’re pretending they are, you wouldn’t have needed them in your video in the first place. 🤭

So thank you for the free ARMY promotion, I guess. Keep pretending you don’t care while dedicating an entire segment to them. The contradiction is doing more work than your whole show. 😂

imagine being so deeply unfunny that your response to people criticizing the sound and engineering of a concert is to tell a largely female fandom to “suck it,” call them losers and intentionally butcher a member’s name which is two syllables and actually very easy to pronounce. first off, what the hell did bts do to be insulted and disrespected?? like they could’ve addressed the actual criticism, disagreed and moved on, but instead reached for misogyny and racialized mockery bc women being passionate about something is still treated as inherently stupid and a non-westernized name is apparently still an acceptable punchline.

Nos dirigimos a ustedes en representación de la comunidad global de seguidores del grupo musical para expresar nuestra profunda indignación ante las recientes declaraciones emitidas durante su transmisión respecto a los integrantes de la agrupación y su público.

Durante el programa, los locutores hicieron uso de un tono despectivo para burlarse y distorsionar deliberadamente los nombres de los artistas ("Jang Jukes", "Jukes Jin Cook"), acompañándolo de expresiones de desprecio hacia su identidad e idioma. Ridiculizar la pronunciación de nombres no occidentales no es un chiste inofensivo; constituye una falta de respeto cultural y una microagresión que perpetúa prejuicios sobre los artistas asiáticos en los medios internacionales.

Asimismo, rechazamos categóricamente la descalificación generalizada hacia los seguidores del grupo, a quienes se catalogó repetidamente como "perdedores". Si bien comprendemos que los medios de comunicación expresen opiniones, el insulto gratuito no equivale a la crítica periodística o al entretenimiento.

Por lo anterior, exigimos formalmente:
—Una aclaración y disculpa pública: Que los locutores involucrados reconozcan el tono despectivo y la insensibilidad cultural mostrada hacia los integrantes de BTS.

—Respeto a la identidad de los artistas: Que el medio adopte un estándar mínimo de profesionalismo al referirse a figuras públicas internacionales, respetando la pronunciación de sus nombres y su origen.

A la vez revisen con detenimiento la conducta, ética y profesionalismo de las personas encargadas de conducir sus transmisiones.

Quienes tienen acceso a un micrófono y a una audiencia tienen la responsabilidad mínima de informarse correctamente y expresarse con respeto. Permitir que los conductores recurran a la burla de nombres, a la insensibilidad cultural y a los insultos directos hacia el público no solo demuestra una falta de preparación, sino que afecta seriamente la credibilidad del propio medio.

Exigimos que realicen su trabajo con profesionalismo y que establezcan filtros adecuados para evitar que personal sin el debido rigor ético continúe emitiendo comentarios despectivos al aire.
