@tombennett71 Letβs also not forget that an assault at school is still on assault in criminal law. Just because it happens in a school doesnβt mean it exists outside of the law. Assault is causing someone to fear harm (it doesnβt even require the physical part which is battery)
After many years of teaching English, I still struggle to apply the literature mark scheme, especially around the middle bands. Marking takes me a long time. Has anyone any helpful advice? Perhaps someone has marked exams before & can shed some light ? Thx
@Team_English1 hi all. Switched to AQA this year but had no formal training. Can anyone point me to any helpful blogs etc with tips for each language question? Does such a think exist? Any tips or advice would be gratefully received! Thx
@Team_English1 hello all. My dept has recently switched to AQA Language. Does anyone have any helpful tips for the questions they would be willing to share or some sample answers? A huge thanks in advance! π
@tombennett71 Any tips for getting silence? Pupils seem to talk whenever I answer a question. Itβs an increasing struggle. I wonder if Iβm missing a good technique. Any help gratefully received.
Hi all. Does anyone have any tips or successful activities for narrative writing? Trying to freshen up my teaching of this. Thanks in advance for any responses. π @Team_English1
@Behaviour_Guy The GCSE syllabus is the biggest reason for disengagement in English. You just need to look at the declining numbers studying literature at college. This is what needs addressing. Goveβs 19th century lit legacy.
@Behaviour_Guy Iβm sorry but I find this a toxic idea. We should strive to teach difficult concepts well, to support struggling pupils, have clear explanations and provide helpful feedback. Itβs not our job to entertain. Thereβs a reason for the recruitment crisis and this view is unhelpful.
