Been too distracted here to post, but thrilled this article with @RenanahJoyce is finally out, wherein we take a non-tautological look at the relationship btw extremism and terrorism.

@JJMichalek Big difference between oil supply and supply of minerals needed for green tech: latter don’t need constant supply to keep energy flowing. So there are supply chain vulnerabilities, but they aren’t nearly as crippling as choke points for oil.
@cdsamii@alex_scacco@apsrjournal Fair enough. I’ve long wanted to run an experiment on QJPS (or other single blind joirnals’) acceptance rates, but haven’t ever managed to do it. If you figure out how to do it for APSR let me know.
Methane accounts for 1/4 of climate impacts! Treat it like the harmful pollutant it is, bad for our lungs & the planet. @GovKathyHochul, PLEASE block S6030/A6039? #FossilFueledHochul
As we stare in horror at #Ian on this dark day, remember 2 things
1) the sea level at Tampa starts a foot higher than during the last great hurricane of 1921, and
2) warm air holds more water vapor than cold, making rainfall records likely.
The climate crisis sets the stage

@tanishafazal@DrTraceyK@mkguliford I don’t think experimentalists would say I have addressed it sufficiently! We need better methods for studying processes that are inherently endogenous and/or reciprocal.
Will be interesting to see if GTD codes these assassinations by Ukrainian partisans against collaborationists as terrorism. They certainly do in other contexts. https://t.co/eu1pHnYEv2

Basic IPCC formula, in order
1) build massive amounts of (now cheap) sun and wind
2) Electrify everything to run on it
3) Conservation and efficiency
4) Research the hell out of the last hard stuff (planes, cement, etc)
5) Stop cutting down trees for cows (or anything else)
@ruajournalist Happy to be in touch. I’m headed into a meeting right now but can be reached later today to discuss at +1 503 548 7429. Can you let me know the subject/angle of the interview?
The life of a female academic:
Conference organizers realize their panel is all men 2 weeks before conference.
Ask you to sit on panel--say you do not have to speak, but can if you want.
🙁
Here is how my rockstar colleague dealt with it (go to 1:27).

@GovKathyHochul, @AndreaSCousins, and @CarlHeastie! New York State needs you to be bold climate leaders and pass the Climate Can’t Wait package of bills THIS YEAR!
@iTolj@ForeignAffairs@bfwalter@HowardLise As we say in the article and the longer review article, PK is not a silver bullet, it does not succeed in every case. But the world focuses on the failures. You have to compare outcomes where PKers are present to those where it isn’t to see its effects.
