The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has never been closer. Pending its finalization, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content.
In line with our responsible and transparent approach, all details will be shared with the public in due course.
PGAN is convening a 6-Day National Stakeholder Consultation in Islamabad this August, bringing together PGAN members and institutional leaders to stress-test our findings, sharpen the diagnosis and move toward solutions.
This consultation builds directly on PGAN’s 3-Day Thematic Working Group Retreat and Outcome Report, carrying forward the work of 70+ participants who examined Pakistan’s structural challenges across governance, the economy, climate, innovation, human development and security.
The room will be honest, the conversations will be difficult and the goal is clarity.

Can Pakistan end the Iran-Israel war?
In our latest PGAN Global Dialogue, Dr. Trita Parsi @tparsi Executive Vice President of the @QuincyInst, argues that Pakistan is not a bystander to this conflict but one of the few actors with the standing and relationships to help bring it to a conclusive end.
We discuss whether the US and Israel miscalculated, whether the war was ever truly about the nuclear programme, the real sentiment inside Iran and why Pakistan's maturity after its own border clash with Tehran positions it to play a decisive mediating role.
A conversation about the region's own actors and the agency they hold.

In this episode, we sit down with Dr. Etienne Augé — propaganda scholar, soft power expert and one of the most compelling voices on how nations shape narratives.
We discuss how stories, screens and strategy now decide which countries get heard in the 21st century.
From Hollywood’s global dominance to TikTok’s role in narrative warfare, from the Iran–US information war to Pakistan’s recent mediation diplomacy, this conversation explores the new architecture of global influence.
Dr. Augé also breaks down why science fiction is a strategic asset for serious nations, what separates allies from friends in international relations, and how to recognise propaganda even when it comes from people you trust.

For the history books
US @VP JD Vance steps off Air Force 2 in #Islamabad to lead the highest-level direct talks between #Washington and #Tehran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution — during a fragile two-week ceasefire
Vice President scholar Prof Joel: "I dont recall a situation where a VP has been sent to negotiate a ceasefire or peace in connection with a war the US was involved with."
In every comparable moment of #American diplomatic history — #Vietnam, the Iran nuclear deal, the #Dayton Accords — it was a Secretary of State or NSA who carried that weight.
Never a sitting Vice President, on foreign soil, with active conflict in the backdrop.
Credit to #Pakistan who brokered the ceasefire that made these talks possible and created the space that no other country could
