Qatari and Pakistani mediators concluded separate meetings with the US and Iranian negotiators in Doha today with:

-> positive progress made on issues related to the aspects of the Islamabad MOU, building on the Lake Lucerne Summit.

-> Parties have agreed to continue discussions over the coming period, with the next meeting to be set at the earliest possible time following the funeral processions of the former Iranian Supreme Leader.

At this year's China-Eurasia Expo in Urumqi, Pakistan was designated Guest of Honor Country.
An impressively designed Pakistan National Pavilion has been set up, featuring 17 booths and 44 Pakistani exhibitors. The Pavilion was jointly inaugurated this morning by H.E. Mr. Wang Jianxin, Vice Governor of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, H.E. Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, and myself.
I briefed the Vice Governor on the key characteristics of Pakistani products and the craftsmanship behind handicrafts, carpets, gemstones, leather goods, wood-carved furniture, garments, and other premium products. We also briefly discussed ways to enhance our bilateral trade by way of improved and expedited customs clearance, quarantine procedures at our land border in Khunjerab Pass.

I am pleased to share that twenty two (22) Iranian crew members of the vessel Lenore/Davina, recently interdicted by US authorities, have safely arrived in Karachi this afternoon, AlhamdoLilah.

Arrangements are now being finalised in close collaboration with the Iranian Missions in Pakistan to facilitate their earliest and safe return to their homeland.

We remained in close contact with the US and Iranian authorities throughout this process.

This marks the fourth group of Iranian crew members in the last two months whose repatriation has been facilitated by Pakistan. So far we have assisted in the repatriation of over seventy (70) Iranian brethren (including today’s group of 22) through Pakistani territory.

I am grateful to the Iranian leadership for the trust they have reposed in Pakistan. I also commend the dedicated efforts of the team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all the Pakistani Institutions for their professionalism and commitment to ensure the smooth and safe repatriation of our Iranian brothers to their homeland.

At the invitation of Prime Minister of Pakistan, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran will undertake a State Visit to Pakistan on 23 June 2026.

The visit reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to further strengthen their historic ties, expand cooperation across diverse sectors, and advance their common aspirations for regional peace, stability, connectivity, and sustainable development.

Joint Statement by the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Regarding The Conclusion of Lake Lucerne Summit, First High-Level Committee Meeting with Participation of the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran

Lucerne | June 22, 2026

The first session of high level talks under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding have concluded in Burgenstock, Switzerland, with the participation of representatives from the Islamic Republic of Iran, the United States of America, and the two mediating parties, the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Lake Lucerne Summit was conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere. Encouraging progress has been made including the creation of a mechanism for further technical talks.

Building on the MoU, the parties have agreed to the establishment of a High Level Committee, which will provide political oversight on the mediation. Chief negotiators will report regularly to the High Level Committee and lead working groups focused on nuclear, sanctions, and a monitoring and dispute resolution group to ensure the effective implementation of the MoU, and on other matters.

The High Level Committee has agreed upon a roadmap towards reaching a final deal within 60 days, laying the foundation for the immediate commencement of further technical talks. In addition, a communication line between the parties has been formed for the period mentioned in paragraph 5 of the MoU to avoid incidents and miscommunication with the aim of safe passage for commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

Moreover, the parties agreed on the creation of a de-confliction cell, between the parties, the Lebanese Republic and facilitated by the Mediators, to ensure the adherence of the termination of military operations in Lebanon as per the MoU. Technical talks will continue for the remainder of the week at the Burgenstock resort on all issues.

The mediating parties will continue to do their utmost to ensure that the negotiations continue to be conducted in a constructive atmosphere with the aim of reaching a final deal.

The State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan express their sincere appreciation to the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran for their ongoing commitment to diplomacy and a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The mediating parties further commend brotherly and friendly countries for their continued support and valuable contribution to the ongoing negotiations.

Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye convened the Fourth Consultative Meeting of the R-4 in Cairo on 21 June 2026.

Joint Statement issued at conclusion of talks:

— Reaffirmed commitment to peace, security, stability and prosperity through continued consultation and coordination.

— Welcomed the Islamabad MoU between the United States and Iran as an important step toward de-escalation and regional stability.

— Commended the efforts of Pakistan 🇵🇰 , with the support of Qatar 🇶🇦, in facilitating this historic understanding.

— Underscored the importance of faithful implementation of commitments and a swift next phase of negotiations toward a lasting, verifiable and mutually acceptable solution.

— Emphasised that regional security arrangements must address the concerns of Gulf Arab States and the Levant to strengthen collective security.

— Reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause remains central to achieving a just, comprehensive and lasting peace in the Middle East.

— Reiterated support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State on the basis of the 4 June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Alhamdulillah, the First High-Level Committee Meeting under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding has concluded successfully in Bürgenstock, Switzerland.

The discussions were held in a positive and constructive atmosphere and yielded encouraging progress, including agreement on a roadmap toward a final deal within 60 days, the establishment of a High-Level Committee to provide political oversight, and the commencement of further technical talks.

I commend the leadership of both the United States as well as Iran for their continued commitment to constructive engagement, and thank all brotherly and friendly countries for their valuable support in advancing this historic process.

In particular, I would like to express my gratitude to our brotherly country Qatar, for its critical support in creating the conditions necessary for these negotiations to move forward.

A word of thanks to the Swiss Government for their facilitation in hosting these talks.

I would like to pay special tribute to Field Marshal Asim Munir whose untiring efforts made these talks a success. His dedication, commitment and perseverance are indeed commendable without which there would have been no progress.

I would like to pay my warm compliments and heartfelt gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, for his diplomatic efforts along with his team at the Foreign Office. I also deeply appreciate the hard work of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi who contributed immensely to the success of these talks.

Pakistan will continue to play its honest and sincere role in advancing dialogue and diplomacy towards a peaceful and lasting resolution.
