My family and I received a final message from Uncle this week who’s been battling GBM grade-4 brain cancer. My uncle is a businessman and was huge on being spiritual. He was a health-nut, ran marathons, ate super healthy, knew every supplement known to man, and even climbed Mt. Everest twice. He was getting ready for his 3rd climb where went to the doctor to get cleared, only to find out he had brain cancer that was undetected till that day. Through it all, he was so positive, always laughing and even dancing into the surgery room all while keeping his friends and family in good spirits as well ✨
Although a lot of times on here I might seem unfazed, it’s been a tough couple of days thinking about it all. Working in law enforcement my whole life (starting as a Police Explorer internship at 13) before getting into trading/business just a few years ago, I guess getting used to death came weirdly early and it just doesn’t normally affect me as much as it does others. This, however, is a gut punch. I guess it’s the worst times where you start thinking about what’s really important in life. There’s so many times where I’m busy and I don’t take the opportunity to connect with myself, and more importantly others in my life. I’m not a perfect person by any means…👇🏽
I write this today to just give an honest truth of what life is. Every second, minute, hour that passes is something we can never ‘buy’ back. We essentially are living in the future. If you have a minute today, even if it’s a simple text or quick call, don’t forget about those around you in the midst of it all. I guess it’s things like this that are the biggest reminder to stay present and genuinely think about your loved ones. Attached is his letter below:
Dear Friends and Family,
With immense love and gratitude, I wish to inform you that my journey with brain cancer is drawing to a close. Your love and unwavering support have been my strength through these challenging 16 months. Fighting GBM grade-4 brain cancer hasn’t been easy, but your presence has been a light in the darkness, giving me the strength to face each day.
To my beloved family, you have been my stronghold, my sanctuary, and my inspiration to keep going. Your love, stemming from Waheguru, has been my anchor through the toughest times. I find comfort in the unbreakable bond we share, one that will last beyond my time here on earth. I have faith that our family’s values, guided by our faith, will guide future generations along the right path with Chardikala.
To my friends, you have been my source of hope, my confidants, and the joy that has lifted my spirits. Your companionship throughout this journey has meant the world to me.
Living each day as if it were my last has given me great happiness, peace of mind and appreciation for life. Please remember to cherish each moment as a divine gift, treasure your family bonds, and spread kindness on your path.
I urge you all to support the ongoing fight to find a cure for glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Your dedicated contributions, whether through raising awareness, helping a friend in need in the local community, fundraising, or advocacy, can make a meaningful difference in this battle against this relentless disease.
To all who have touched my life, I extend my deepest gratitude.
As I prepare to say goodbye, I am at peace and embrace Waheguru’s will.
