Olof Palme International Center is the Swedish labour movement's umbrella organisation for international solidarity. Equality, freedom, human rights for all.
Rather than launching a campaign against the ICC and continuing to arm a government engaged in a genocide, US authorities should respect human rights and the rule of law. New York Mayor Mamdani is right: PM Netanyahu should be arrested and tried by the International Criminal Court.
Urgent call to the international community to take immediate action to stop Israel's violence and prevent pogroms by settler militias and the Israeli army across the West Bank.
In recent days, violence by settler militias, enabled and supported by the Israeli army, has escalated across the West Bank, including the torching and destruction of Palestinian property, and the forced expulsion of families and communities. These attacks have been met with silence and inaction from much of the international community, allowing the violence to continue and intensify.
Today's event in the village of Tell (Area B) when a settlers' "tour" in the village ended with the killing of at least 4 Palestinians and 1 settler and several people injured is leading to escalated violence in the area with settlers, ministers, and Knesset members calling for further revenge attacks which already started across the West Bank. Experience shows that these events can escalate quickly into mass pogroms when met with silence.
We call the international community to act now. Immediate pressure must be placed on Israel to stop further attacks, prevent pogroms and further killings, and ensure the protection of Palestinians, in accordance with Israel's obligations under international law.

It is high time the 🇪🇺 follow its own trade policy and ban trade of all goods and services from 🇮🇱’s illegal settlements in the West Bank. @ecfr https://t.co/ZUKTcAEm0b
What do #SocialDemocracy and progressivism mean in the #Eastern Partnership region? FEPS was in Warsaw for this year’s edition of Friends of Eastern Partnership (FoEP)!🇵🇱
https://t.co/yl8iJNVhfS
This edition of the FoEP provided a space for in-depth discussions on strengthening progressive cooperation, developing local strategies and fostering regional networking across the Eastern Partnership, bringing together participants nominated by progressive organisations from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. 💭
Topics explored include:
👉 Defining progress in the region
👉Mapping the political landscape
👉Translating core values like democracy, equality and solidarity into practice
👉 Identifying the strategic and electoral positioning of centre-left forces.
The regional conference took place ahead of the 2026 @YESocialists Summer Camp, where participants had the opportunity to further engage with progressive youth from across the EU and beyond, including the panel discussion “A gender perspective on the Eastern Partnership”, which featured several FoEP participants.
🤝 The Friends of Eastern Partnership (FoEP) is an FEPS initiative, organised in cooperation with Foundation Max van der Stoel (FMS), @Palmecenter and @FAE_pl.
⏰ The clock is ticking for a new social contract.

The indictment runs three thousands of pages. Yet the defence is being forced into an unreasonable timetable. This is not justice. It is the use of courts against democratic opposition. #NATO leaders must not remain silent about #Turkey.

When Erdoğan faces his strongest political rival in court instead of in free elections, it is not only Ekrem İmamoğlu who is on trial. It is #Turkey’s democracy. This trial with a possible 2,000+ year sentence demands clear protests from Europe’s leaders.

Fighting #Myanmar’s scam centres by coop. with the military junta would legitimize the very forces that protect and profit from them. Human trafficking and transnational crime must be fought with democratic forces and civil society, not with war criminals.

💔 Still the world’s worst region for workers.
📉 100% of countries violated the rights to collective bargaining, union registration and joining a union.
🗣️ Workers across the region continue to face repression and shrinking civic space.

More than 100,000 people have been killed since Myanmar's military coup in 2021. The world cannot look away while civilians continue to pay the price. Stand with those defending democracy, human rights and peace. #Myanmar

No one should face prosecution for advocating peaceful legal reform. Democratic societies depend on open debate - not legal action against elected repr. for proposing legislative change. We stand with those defending democracy, human rights and freedom of expression in #Thailand.

Banning EU trade with illegal Israeli settlements is not an "option." It's an obligation. Palmecenter is one of the human rights organisations calling on the Commission to uphold international law and ban the trade. @vonderleyen@kajakallas@MarosSefcovic

🇲🇪 On the week of the #EUWesternBalkans summit in Tivat, the Friends of the Western Balkans (FoWB) met in Montenegro to place regional cooperation in the Western Balkans at the centre of the discussion. On this occasion, they issued the official joint statement "Call for a progressive EU enlargement". Find out more.
The discussion provided a platform for exchange among members of the European Parliament, representatives of national parliaments from the Social Democratic family and a broad network of experts to:
🔍 Reassess whether and how regional cooperation can still function as a credible instrument of enlargement
⚙️ Discuss the risks of the instrumentalisation of the #RegionalCooperation as a platform for accessing funding or consolidating political alliances
🇭🇺 Examine the implications of recent political developments in Hungary for the enlargement process
🌱 Present the challenges and opportunities related to the #JustTransition in the Western Balkans, aligning with EU Green Agenda goals while supporting affected workers and communities
While new proposals to reform the EU enlargement methodology circulate in Brussels and beyond, it must be underlined that enlarging the Union is, and will always remain, primarily a matter of political will – both among Member States and in candidate countries.
🤝 By FEPS, in cooperation with @FES_Europa, Foundation Max van der Stoel - FMS, @SorsaFoundation, @Palmecenter, @j_jaures, @RennerInstitut, @CeSPI_Roma, @D_Progresiva and @TheProgressives, in the framework of FEPS Enlargement Programme. The conference was preceded by the S&D Willy Brandt Programme conference.
We support Montenegro’s ambitious goal to become an EU Member State by 2028. We welcome the establishment of the Ad Hoc Working Group for the drafting of Montenegro’s Accession Treaty, a process launched bringing Montenegro one step closer to the EU.
