Today's ADAPTOBER submission comes from Nicole McCoy (@NMcCoy_APE) in Pennsylvania.
Bringing the parachute out is a highlight for many but in small classes with reduced movement it can be difficult.
Here are some accommodations to make it accessible to all!!!

The Dice Game
Another elementary #physed teacher in my district shared this fun warm-up game. Sound on for instructions. I frame it as a students vs. me game & they absolutely love it! (They kept the energy low cuz this is gonna be my instructional video to use during class)
Happy Spring Break!
Before break, we wrapped up a short fitness unit. We completed our second round of fitness challenges and made SMART goals. Our primary students focused on understanding and improving their cardiorespiratory endurance.
Home stretch of the school year next!
This was a great week of striking with a golf club overall, I learned a lot from what our S’s need and made adjustments as the week went on. Next year will be even better! On to striking with a bat next week, just in time for Opening Day!
We worked on short-range shots with the primary grades this week. Focusing on body control and position for safety and precision when it comes to putting. Our S’s really stepped up to the challenge and enjoyed the obstacles we created!
Week 2 of our striking unit - we are headed outside in the mornings with Grades 4-6 for some Golf! Check out the replies for a peak at our “SVES Top Golf” setup!
We discussed how not everyone enjoys golf the same way. Some enjoy the game traditionally on a golf course with different types of strokes. Others (like myself) enjoy going to the range and hitting the ball as far as we can! Many S’s left telling me “maybe golf isn’t so bad”!
Just wrapped up our Rhythm and Dance unit last week. Brought in the ol’ Nintendo Wii with Just Dance to encourage more movement from our students. We also provided glow sticks!🕺
S’s that demonstrated great effort as a “backup dancer” were selected by teachers or peers to come up to center stage to hold the Wii remote and show off their moves!
