I gave my students a column written by Sheridan Baker, “The Meaning of Words,” with no front loading. I did not manage to predict what gave many of them trouble: the fact that the text was formatted in a column. No judgment here: just a note on generational format literacy.
Congratulations to our speaker series essay contest winner AJ Takata, who received $2,500 for his conservatory. Tomorrow is the big day! We are kicking off our inaugural speaker series with "OC Meets the Global Economy."
@davidtedu Yes, that is one of the first questions I get, too. Interesting. Could simply be the go-to question. Sometimes I wonder whether they want to hear no other class compares to theirs. “Were we your favorite?” it seems to ask.
Please help find #BlazeBernstein. The OCSA alum has been reported missing and was last seen in Lake Forest on Jan. 2. If you have any information on his whereabouts, contact OC Sheriff’s Department at 714-647-7000. #FindBlaze https://t.co/GDhmXctjFL via @abc7
@EdWeekTeacher One of my students hand carved stamps for me of things I love.
Another student crafted these rhetorical analysis candy heart magnets for Valentine’s Day.
Does your school assess students for their acquisition of school wide Student Learner Outcomes? If so, what does that look like, and how is it reported to stakeholders?
@GuyFieri@guarnaschelli Watching right now. So far, digging it! Thanks for your visit to OCSA. I learned a lot, and that, after all, is why I watch shows on Food Network: yes, to be entertained, but mostly, to learn.
@teacher2teacher@dubioseducator I get to be in the room when students understand something they didn’t before: the sound that moment makes is my favorite—it’s electric.
