Letโs kick #pancreaticcancer through the end zone!
For LGBTQ+ patients, the anxiety of a serious illness like #pancreaticcancer can be magnified by a healthcare system that may not always be equipped to provide sensitive, competent care to gender and sexual minorities.
During Pride Month and beyond, itโs important to raise awareness of the health disparities experienced by the LGBTQ+ community. And when it comes to pancreatic cancer, PanCAN is ready to help patients navigate the healthcare system and find the resources they need. ๐

Pancreatic cancer is most often caught late. On the latest PancChat, Dr. Ray Wadlow breaks down who should be screened, what genetic mutations to know about, and how the @PrecedeStudy is working to change early detection at a global scale.

Today, on National Nurses Day, weโre honoring the incredible nurses who bring compassion, comfort and expert care to patients and families every single day. ๐
Join us in thanking every nurse making a difference in the #pancreaticcancer community and beyond.
Although #pancreaticcancer is currently the 11th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S., it is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths, after lung and colorectal. And it is predicted to become the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths before 2030.
Because 13% survival is not enough, PanCAN has set a bold goal: Drive the five-year survival rate to 20% by 2030. We will do this by accelerating research, expanding patient support and championing a thriving field. ๐
Weโre on the way to $25 million! The House Dear Colleague letter had a record-breaking 127 signatures supporting funding for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Program (PCARP) at the Department of Defense! Now itโs time for the Senate to do the same. We need you and your community to contact your senators and urge them to sign their names in support of renewed and continued funding for PCARP. โ๏ธ๐

Through the All Together We Can campaign, PanCAN is making their boldest investment yet โ $250 million over five years โ to accelerate research, expand patient support and strengthen the entire pancreatic cancer field. ๐ https://t.co/SzCGc2Dt5O
The PanCAN community turned the nation purple last Saturday for #PanCANPurpleStride! ๐๐
Thank you again for being part of this incredible day. Together, we can turn science into survival and change the story of #pancreaticcancer.
Weโre grateful to @KTLA for welcoming Star Trekโs @JonathanSFrakes ahead of PanCAN PurpleStride to share why heโs walking to end pancreatic cancer this weekend. ๐๐
Jonathan strides in honor of his younger brother, Daniel. He shares, โHe and I moved to New York together. We came across the country together in a 1967 Chevy Sportvan. We listened to music together. We lived in rundown apartments together."
Then, the unthinkable happened. Daniel was diagnosed with #pancreaticcancer. He died May 17, 1997, at the age of 41, just one week shy of the birth of Jonathanโs daughter. โIt was quite shocking โ and still is โ to not have him as part of my life."
Today, Jonathan honors his brotherโs memory through his work with PanCAN, using his platform to raise critical funds and awareness. In addition to his brother, he is inspired by fellow Star Trek actor and dear friend @KittySwink, a 20-plus-year survivor. Together, they founded the PanCAN PurpleStride Los Angeles team, Trek Against Pancreatic Cancer โ raising hundreds of thousands of dollars while helping advance PanCANโs mission to support patients and drive research forward.
Jonathan shares, โWe make progress, but we have a long, long, long way to go. We need to detect pancreatic cancer earlier, so that people like Daniel arenโt diagnosed so late. We need to find better treatment options for those who are battling the disease. And PanCAN is leading the way, accelerating this progress.โ
Leave a ๐ in the comments if youโll be joining Jonathan and Team Trek Against Pancreatic Cancer this weekend at #PanCANPurpleStride. Itโs not too late to take the first step at ๐ https://t.co/cqvqu4a0Iv!
