We are entering a pivotal moment for #pancreaticcancer research funding and your advocacy is essential. ๐ฃ
The Labor-HHS appropriations bill โ which determines funding levels for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) โ is the backbone of federal biomedical and cancer research investment.
The NCI is also the single largest source of pancreatic cancer research funding in the country. The discoveries, clinical advances and promising therapies we are seeing today are only possible because of sustained federal support over many years.
And this week, lawmakers are making critical decisions.
Change the story of pancreatic cancer by contacting your members of Congress today at ๐ https://t.co/xT7CZsrL6t. Make sure federally funded research for patients and families is a national priority. ๐
"The results presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology (@ASCO) Annual Meeting #ASCO26 for daraxonrasib represent the most significant advance we have ever seen in #pancreaticcancer. For a disease that has long been marked by limited treatment options and often devastating outcomes, seeing a therapy double overall survival in previously treated metastatic pancreatic cancer patients is both extraordinary and encouraging.
I had the privilege of being in the room when these data were presented and joined colleagues from across the #cancer community in a standing ovation โ a rare and powerful moment that reflected the significance of what we were witnessing. It was not simply a celebration of a promising new treatment, but of years of scientific persistence, collaboration and the courage of the patients and families who participated in clinical trials to help move the field forward.
We congratulate our valued industry partner, @RevMedicines, as well as the investigators, clinicians and trial participants who made this achievement possible. While there is still much work ahead and no single breakthrough will solve pancreatic cancer alone, these results offer something our community urgently needs: evidence-based hope and a clear reminder that progress is possible." โ @JulieFleshman, PanCAN President and CEO

For the most common type of #pancreaticcancer, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, more than 90% of tumors are thought to have a KRAS mutation. For decades, these mutations were considered โundruggable,โ meaning there was no effective way to target them with treatments. But groundbreaking research has changed that with remarkable results โ a new RAS inhibitor approximately doubled overall survival compared with chemotherapy in patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer.
Join PanCAN to discuss the current moment in KRAS research โ and what the newest discoveries may mean for patients now and in the future. During our free virtual event, you'll learn more about:
๐งฌ What KRAS is and why it's critical for patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer to know if their tumor has a KRAS mutation
๐ฌ The latest research related to KRAS and beyond, including clinical trials happening now that stand to change the treatment landscape
๐งช The important role patients play in advocating for biomarker testing, clinical trials and new treatment options for KRAS-driven cancers
๐ How PanCAN Patient Services can help patients get biomarker testing to identify KRAS and other mutations as well as navigate treatment options, including clinical trials

I am delighted by the FDAโs decision to allow initiation of an expanded access treatment protocol for @RevMedicine's daraxonrasib in previously treated metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, as it represents an important additional pathway for patients with limited options.
Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it has issued a โsafe to proceedโ letter to @RevMedicines, allowing the company to initiate an expanded access treatment protocol (EAP) for daraxonrasib for patients with previously treated metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). ๐
Expanded access is a potential pathway for patients with serious or life-threatening conditions to gain access to investigational medicines outside of a clinical trial when they are unable to participate in a clinical trial and all other appropriate treatment options have been exhausted.
In response to the FDAโs letter, Revolution Medicines said that this โrepresents a critical step in the process of opening an EAPโ and that they are โmoving as quickly as possible to ensure safe and equitable access to daraxonrasib for eligible patients in the United States,โ according to a statement from the company.
