World, we give you Dr Hรถfs! So proud of our @WindieHoefs, who successfully defended her thesis yesterday ๐๐๐
Windie did beautiful work with ours and the @G_Charras lab, uncovering the roles of cell-cell and cell-ECM interactions in YAP mechanical regulation ๐ฉ๐พโ๐
New paper from the lab!
We developed an optogenetic tool, OptoShroom3, to induce apical constriction in illuminated cells(left).
By controlling cell shapes, OptoShroom3 can induce tissue shape changes, including lumen shrinkage of neural organoids(right).

I have been waiting for my #ATAS certificate which should arrive in 20-30 days for more than 3 months now! I was supposed to join as a postdoc at @EdinburghUni on Aug 1. There is no response to follow up emails. Can we get atleast a status update @FCDOGovUK ? @research_uk@GOVUK
@FCDOGovUK I'm still waiting for ATAS after 3 months and have not heard back at all. I am one of many students facing this huge delay. The least you can do is give us a real timeline since it's obviously past 30 working days written on your website. Absolutely frustrating
Super happy to see our paper on spindle orientation and cortical mechanics finally out! Thank you to all authors Pierre Bohec, Matt Smith, Emma Ferber, @varunsreeni@ana_lisica@BaumBuzz@GSalbreux and @G_Charras

New paper from the lab!
We developed a novel human organoid that periodically forms somite-like structures. The spheroid of human iPS cells elongates and starts forming pairs of somites according to the segmentation clock.

Just stopped myself from getting involved in an argument with some people I overheard on the tube saying "Cell membranes, Biomolecules and Nucleotides- gross!" They were a group of teenagers so I let them go :p
In this scenario, the cost of publication is covered by an Article Processing Charge (APC) paid at the time of publication. The APC for Nature Neuroscience in 2022 is โฌ9,500/US $11,390/ยฃ8,290.
@GOVUK Its been 30 working days and I am still waiting for my ATAS clearance! I am already going to face a significant delay in joining my MRes course, and not having received a decision on my ATAS is making me quite anxious! ATAS ref no 294885. Please help!
