@Aleks13053799 @DissidentWrit @elonmusk It depends on the religion. Christianity was key to the science explosion after ages of arrested development from superstitious religion. Look more into it & your prejudices will be overturned, or just be complacent w/ your current (unscientific) narrative…
Let us #PrayTogether for Pope Emeritus Benedict who is supporting the Church in silence. Let us ask the Lord to console him and to sustain him in this witness of love for the Church, until the end.
@Jvo_lopez @washingtonpost Religion should most certainly influence politics. Religion is not a political institution, it is a virtue of a community attempting to do justice to God, and is precisely not a private affair.
@mommydog67 @washingtonpost The Church doesn't need to strive to be relevant, it is always relevant. Perhaps though, it needs to communicate much better and focus more intently on its mission. If the church were to change its teaching based on popular demand it would've been extinct long ago.
@PamAdam67507224@washingtonpost Bishops don't command anyone to do anything. They provide moral guidance intended to help make prudential judgements of conscience. It's not women's rights issue, it's human rights. At what point is the "fetus" a human person? Human rights include both mother and child.
@locations131 @washingtonpost Also, being "catholic" and supporting abortion and trying to get others to do is very different then being Catholic and struggling to understand or support the teachings of the Tradition. You MUST ALWAYS follow your conscience, yes, but to teach against the Church is NOT Catholic
@locations131 @washingtonpost Labeling abortion a "right" is agenda-driven propaganda. At least use terms that allow for good discussion and debate rather than manipulate others into siding with your opinion.
@Jvo_lopez @washingtonpost Clarifying side note: The separation of Church is NOT in the constitution. What IS in the constitution is that the government cannot exercise its authority to establish a religion.
