Cybersecurity compliance remains a business expense defense contractors need to plan for.
CMMC Phase 2 was originally scheduled to begin November 10, but its implementation has been suspended. Existing Phase 1 requirements remain in place.
For contractors, that means continuing to budget for the work needed to maintain compliance, including remediation, security tools, staff time, and outside support.
Those expenses can put pressure on cash flow well before revenue from a new contract arrives.
Understanding the costs and when they’re due can help you plan ahead.

Federal scrutiny of the 8(a) program is expanding.
Washington Technology reports that GSA and SBA are auditing 689 firms suspended from the program after SBA found they had not demonstrated compliance.
The review examines contracts awarded to those firms, with suspected fraud referred to the Department of Justice.
For small contractors, this is a reminder to keep eligibility documentation current and maintain clear records supporting contract performance and subcontracting arrangements.

Last Thursday, Teresa Moon sat down with Marsha Lindquist, Strategic Pricing Leader and Founder of Granite Leadership Strategies, for Episode 104 of Spilling the Tea on GovCon.
Are you pricing to win the next contract or to build a sustainable business?
Marsha explains how strategic pricing differs from the traditional Price to Win approach, why competing on price alone can hurt profitability, and how to communicate the value your company brings to a customer.
She also shares practical guidance for evaluating risk and building a strategic pricing plan for your next bid.

With Election Day behind us, federal contractors are watching the December 11 government funding deadline.
Congress must pass a funding agreement or another continuing resolution. For contractors, the uncertainty makes it important to review award timelines, confirm contract funding, and prepare for potential delays.
Our latest roundtable episode covers what the election results could mean for funding, awards, and cash flow.

Today is Election Day. As voters decide the next Congress, the current Congress still faces a December 11 funding deadline.
In its analysis, Holland & Knight highlights a crowded post-election agenda. Full-year appropriations, another continuing resolution, or a mix of both remain possible.
For small federal contractors, the takeaway is straightforward: election results alone won’t resolve funding uncertainty. Keep award dates and cash-flow forecasts under review as Congress returns to negotiations.

Tomorrow is Election Day. For federal contractors, attention will soon turn to the December 11 government funding deadline.
The current continuing resolution expires that day, leaving the outgoing Congress responsible for reaching a funding agreement before the new Congress takes office in January.
Over the next several weeks, watch for progress on full-year appropriations, proposals for another extension, and signs that negotiations could carry into the new year.
Those decisions matter for contract timing, hiring plans, and cash flow. Later this week, we’ll discuss what the election results could mean for your business.

December 11 is an important funding deadline for federal contractors.
The government is operating under a continuing resolution that expires December 11, 2026, generally maintaining prior-year funding levels and limiting new program starts.
Small contractors should use this time to review contract funding and prepare for potential delays:
* Identify awards and contract actions that depend on FY27 funding.
* Review incrementally funded contracts and confirm how long available funding will support performance.
* Seek written direction from your contracting officer before continuing work affected by a funding lapse.
* Assess how delayed awards or payments could affect cash flow and upcoming expenses.
Addressing these questions now gives your team more time to prepare as the deadline approaches.

Federal contractors are planning for the months ahead while funding questions remain unresolved.
With the calendar’s December 11 funding deadline about six weeks away, take time to review how a disruption could affect your contracts, payment schedules, and payroll.
A few priorities:
• Confirm the funding status of your active contracts.
• Update cash flow projections to account for possible payment delays.
• Review how long available cash can cover payroll and operating expenses.
• Discuss financing needs early to allow time to evaluate your options.
Our CR Survival Checklist can help guide that review. Find the link in the comments.

SBA’s proposed changes would consolidate nearly 1,000 size standards into 338 broader categories and raise thresholds in many industries, potentially allowing larger firms to compete for small-business set-asides.
For federal contractors, the impact will depend on their NAICS codes. Firms near existing size limits could gain eligibility, while smaller businesses could face larger competitors.
Current standards remain in effect until a final rule is issued. Contractors should continue using those standards for their SAM representations while reviewing how the proposal could affect their eligibility and competition.
Comments close November 20, 2026. Review the proposed changes for your NAICS codes and consider submitting feedback.
