#WhiteboardWednesday - Alcohol Intoxication. To support the public intoxication reforms recently commenced in Victoria, this guideline provides advice to paramedics around risk assessment, treatment and referral/transport advice for patients experiencing alcohol intoxication
#WhiteboardWednesday - Malignant Hyperthermia. A rare but critical reaction in susceptible people to volatile anaesthetic agents (like Methoxyflurane) and Suxamethonium.
Never seen it, never hope to see it, but it does happen. Be aware!
#WhiteboardWednesday - Posterior Circulation Stroke. Making up ~25% of strokes, presents a challenge to paramedic diagnosis, being missed 3x more often than anterior strokes. Many different assessments help but first we need to consider the possibility of PCS. #paramedic#stroke
#WhiteboardWednesday - Adrenal Insufficiency. A nice new guideline from the team at @AmbulanceVic which introduces hydrocortisone. Check out the full CPG for more info!
#WhiteboardWednesday - Acute Behavioural Disturbance (new CPG). Introduces Droperidol to @AmbulanceVic practice and focuses on de-escalation and post-sedation care. Another great tool for paramedics to utilize. Listen to the experts discuss it here: https://t.co/O5T3KhdWgB
#WhiteboardWednesday - Basic VBG interpretation. With increased ramping during the pandemic, paramedics are getting more involved in hospital-based care. VBG is a quick, easy point of care blood test which can greatly contribute to triage and ongoing monitoring
#WhiteboardWednesday - Palliative Care. Not routinely thought of for paramedics, this guideline aims to provide comfort and relief from symptoms for palliative care patients. It enables them to remain at home whilst waiting specialist review. Great CPG by @AmbulanceVic
